what kind of ivory

Some cuemakers lie about having "IVORY" in their cues. They say things like it has "BONE IVORY" inlays. BONE is not Ivory. Ivory is either teeth or tusks of an animal. Not bone or antler...JER

When a. Cue had ivory in it what kind of ivory is it

For the most part they are talking about Elephant Tusk if they are talking about real Ivory. If you se the term Bone Ivory you are not getting the real deal, it could be teeth, or other bones from an animal, Falcon use to use this term all the time when they cues were made in Canada.

The problem that comes up is that once the material is put in a cue it is covered by finish and impossible to identify, there are many materials that look like Ivory.

If it just says Real Ivory inlays it is most likely African Elephant tusks. Ivory is also a term used for color or looks, so terms like Bone Ivory means Ivory colored bone inlays, Faux Ivory or manufactured Ivory means imitation Ivory. Those terms are not meant to mislead as they tell you what the material is made out of.
