What kind of pool thread do the pool players on AZB like to read?

You know what kind of thread I love that you don't see anymore?

"How would you play this" type threads with diagrams. In the old days it was easy to share a cue table diagram and people would come up with some good ones.

Now that's broken and so nobody bothers anymore because it takes more work.

I think it's within the power of the people running AZB to make it work again, the diagram website still works. It's just a question of tweaking the forum code to allow it to display the table in a post.

That was the first type of thread that came to mind when I read the thread question. I really, really miss those threads. (Neil, those were always awesome. Always. Greatly missed.)

I like many different types of threads, so long as they don't dissolve into the crap we see all too often here. I understand that we all don't have to agree, but the level of negativity that is generated makes the forum a lot less enjoyable.

Have I said how much I miss the "What would you do?" threads? Cuz I really do.....

Anything that isnt a argument. too much of that nowdays.

hope you been well.

best

Hello Fatboy,
I have been OK, thank you. How about you? This thread is going real smooth, people get a chance to tell exactly what they like in a thread in their own words. Man that is nice!
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

I like to read updates from tournaments...like who won and who were in the top 10.

I like to read about who is playing good and who is gambling and winning money.

I like to read about good places to play for fun and money.

I like to read about new products and inventions involving pool. (but no aiming system!)

I like to read about---who has good food and what it is.

Soooo...you and Eric don't like arguing, Lock?
What's wrong with arguing?
We each have a unique point of view based on our experience and position.
...and it's always changing 'cause we keep getting new information.

So I'm all for 'argument threads'...so long as it remains a mutual search.
When words become weapons...that's when it all goes to hell.

Well, well, and well,
Now I see what type of threads you like. I do not know what to say!

Information and news of pool tournaments and where to watch live broadcasts. Also news of pool in general or items about cues.

But I really don't like the constant threads that ask questions/polls:

What is the best shaft?
What is the best chalk?
What table should I buy?
Which table is best for me?
What is best method for aiming?
Etc. Etc. Etc.

Can't anyone ever do a search or why can't people just play and learn by observation?

One thing I like about this thread, is that it lets the AZB members state what they like in a pool thread on AZB. Thanks for the good input.

I like threads that discuss strategy, like the "how would you play this" threads that everyone loves. Those are the ones that you can actually learn something from.

I also like to hear about the game's history and the players who aren't around anymore.

Did you know that Nick Varner had a period in the early 90's where he won something like 10 out of 11 tournaments? Terry Ardeno would probably know for sure, but that's the kind of stuff I like to read about.

Also, stats. I love AtLarge's numbers threads, and wish there were more numbers available, i.e. who had the highest winning percentage, who made the most balls on the break, etc. I wish stats were as available for pool as they are for baseball, then we would have answers to questions like, "Who was the best safety player ever?" or "Who missed the fewest balls?".

I love the APA bashing and Aiming system threads. There's just not enough of them on AZ!

Seriously though, I enjoy many threads. I like the "Action" stories, "Road" stories, "Listen to what happened to me last night" stories, as well as the "How would you play this shot?" threads...

But I must admit my favorite thread of all time has to be dsoriano's thread of his Custom Pool Room. To see his project from start to finish with all the detail made me feel like I was going thru the process myself. The jealousy is at its all time high with his finished product!

Road stories are always a good read.

Where is that David Harcrow when you need him. I know he still reads but hasn't done a Road Story re him and his brother Country Calvin in some time. I know for a fact, there are a ton more stories there.

We keep in touch via email but I guess I have to give David a poke to get another one out there.

David's stories are always a vivid picture. When I read his, it is exactly like you're standing in the back ground watching.

I'd like an entire area dedicated to the newer and less experienced player. That way if someone wants to help out on the basics he can at his own choosing. It also eliminates the "Not this again" responses and also makes a lesser skilled player feel more at ease about asking questions they feel may be redundant. Often times the search feature leaves something to be desired.

Yep, I like to hear the results of tournaments, who matched up and how much. They really like to promote their tournaments, but once its over you get little or no details!

I miss Neil's 'what would?' threads....many disagreements..but they always
seemed to remain good humored and informative.
...Joey had some good ones also...

And the war stories are entertaining.

And tournament results...that's why I started reading AZ....
...noooobody out-scoops AZ posters...

..and, although I tend to be a serious dude myself...I like the humor.
...some of you guys could've wrote for Don Rickles...:rotflmao1:
