What level am i at?

The most knowledgeable people are going to tell you that a pro beating the 13-ball ghost is a proposition that is going to vary widely from pro to pro and from table to table. Of course a pro can beat the 13 ball ghost, but he doesn't have to, and he won't even be favored to on certain equipment. On one of those brutal tables at Hard Times, most pros don't even have to beat the 10-ball ghost.

If you want to get an honest assessment of your game, you will have to come with performance stats that mean something - unfortunately, "I sometimes beat the 13-ball ghost" falls far short of the mark.

Just to give you an example: I have played great players all over the country - pros, amateurs, and a few world class players - but the biggest package that was ever put on me was by a kid from OK who's name I don't even remember. He strung 8 on me playing 9-ball on a Gandy Big G, but he wasn't rated higher than a B+ or A- player. He just had this break that would make you want to go buy a set of earplugs before flipping for the second set. He could come on here and say "I ran an 8-pack. How good am I?", and probably nobody would say B+/A- because they didn't play him for 4 hours like I did.

Some around here are just going to hate, but others (myself included) would honestly like to see you play a real game like 10-ball or straight pool. If you post something like that, you will get a lot of honest feedback... and if you beat the 10-ball ghost 9-1, you'll probably get some more hate, LOL. That's the nature of the forum.

Think thats a very fair and good post

A good video and score/rating to post would be a BU Exam video. Many other AZB users have posted scores and ratings on the AZB BU thread.

I look forward to seeing your scores and video. Based on what you have written, you should be able to post a fairly high score.

Good luck,
Dave

I'm nothing special Dave, a mere B+ player. I know my place in the pecking order, and I make no claims about beating any ghost.

Bambu,

Sorry for the confusion. I meant to refer to coco9 in that post. FYI, I've edited it to be more clear:

I am skeptical like others on here, just because so few people can accomplish the feat of beating the 13 ball ghost. I would love to see some video of coco9 play just to be able to see what he can do.

I don't think it really matters what "knowledgeable" people say about a pro vs. the 13 ball ghost. That is not a game that happens very often, so I think it would be speculation what a pro would do, even for those out there that are more knowledgeable.

I would love to see some video of him playing the 13 ball ghost, but I think it would be less valuable to understand his playing level than actually doing a test like Dr. Dave's. I have strung together 3 racks of 9 ball a few times, and watching that would give someone the impression that I am much better than I really am. So, if I only posted a video of that, it would not help a lot. Of course it would still likely show some of my stroke faults and position play errors that people may be able to comment on.

Coco9,
Several people have posted videos on here asking for critiques of their game. Not surprisingly, the videos are very often games they ran out, and probably sometimes ways for those people to make themselves look good. None the less, these people received some excellent constructive criticism for their game. If you go and play a set against the ghost that is typical of your normal play, you will likely get some excellent advice, and a more knowledgeable rating of your level. Their are many people very willing to help on these forums, and some that simply live to troll them. Post a video, ignore the trolls, and enjoy the many great aspects of the forum.
