What material is this ferrule?

It's 5 foot long, 16.1 mm diameter. When I cut it with my bandsaw it created sparks. Its really hard, I hit it with a hammer. Its off white in color and slightly transparent. A 23.38 mm long and 16.1 mm thick piece weighs .4 oz,
Any ideas?
