Not 100% sure but I think that it was a British movie from the early 80's called Billy the Kid and the Green Baize Vampire starring Phil Daniels.

We have a winner. I was surprised that someone knew but then I see you are from England. Did you see the movie? There are 4 lobby cards from the set that show a pool scene. I am wondering if much of the movie revolved around a table? One of the lobby cards shows a young man standing by a table, while holding a cue. At a quick glance he looks like a young Jimmy White. If anyone would like a copy of the lobby card PM me with your address and I'll send one.

You need to repost that pic and make it a caption contest! I can't even imagine the great ones that would come up. That pic is begging for a great caption.

Good idea, I was thinking about doing that with some of my pieces. I'll post one later tonight or in the morning. I'll start with another intersting one I have in mind.

Yes I did see the movie. It was actually a musical. A friend of mine, snooker pro Geoff Foulds was the technical adviser for the shots.
There was a slightly earlier movie which also cashed in on the massive popularity boom of snooker in the 80;s. It was called Number One and starred Bob Geldorf of Band Aid fame.
It took large chunks of the lifestyle of Bob Harris, a charismatic young player of the time, I managed Bob at the time and they named the character Harry GORDON.
I watched it again recently and it really was embarrassing, with the game's governing body deciding matters of great importance over beers in a pub.

Do you know if copies of the movies would still be available? Also nice to talk to someone from the other side of the pond, with ties to the snooker industry. I hope to someday visit England, with the intentions of visiting the Clare museum. Is Geoff Foulds also a coach? He is Neil?s father also isn?t he.

Many world decisions were made as leaders adjured to the billiard room after dinner. If their decisions could be made while drinking, smoking and playing billiards, I guess so could snookers.;)

Sorry Mike but I have been offline for a few days. I was chilling out in a beautiful part of the UK called Lulworth Cove - no phone, no POOL, no pets! Beautiful!
BTK&TGBV I don't have but I know where I can possibly get a copy. Number One - I have an original review copy which I can send you on DVD (tranferred from VHS). Just pm your address to me.

I you get to the UK then look me up. Geoff Foulds is the father of former top four pro player Neal Foulds. He was also the Chairman of the Snooker Governing Body. He was resident house pro at Ealing Snooker Centre in London. But I am not sure if he is an active coach these days. He never made a mark on the pro game but was a formidable amateur player playing out of the legendary Ronnie Gross Club in North London during the 1970's.

The Clare Museum is a wonderful reminder of billiard heritage. Several years ago there was a trade show called Dart & Cue and Norman Clare brouhjt vitually everything he owned to display there - fantastic for fanatics. There are several other people in the UK such as Roger Lee and Ernie Sanders with great collector's items.

I have a few rare items such as pix of Bette Davis, Princess Diana and Pinocchio playing pool but nothing in the class of the aforementioned collectors.

This is from a film called "Billy The Kid And The Green Baize Vampire"

Former World Champion Ray Reardon was on hand to do a lot of the scenes.

The film Number One which had Bob Geldof in it was far from a musical!

This film starred Phil Daniels who had starred in The Who's film Quadrophenia.

Sorry Jason but I beg to differ. You are confused on two counts.

Or is that a bad pun. Ray Reardon did have the Count Dracula image but this was due to his 2 vampire style fangs and he played up to it during some of his exhibitions. But Foulds was responsible for the trick shots in the movie.

Perhaps you misread that like you misread about Number One being a musical. I did not say that. What I said was that BTH&TGBV was a musical.

Thanks for the offer, I will PM you this evening. I have corresponded with Roger on a few occasions. Does he still set up a booth at the World's? Talk to you soon, glad you had a few days of relaxation.
