Wow Wow Wow to both of those!!!I think 20K Lumens is optimal for pool but you may have good results with 17,600.
I've got 2 BMX Cruisers: 26" Race Inc and a 26" True Torch JMC Tribute.

Usually "lense" or "lens" refers to a transparent device that focuses light by refraction, like eyeglasses. The things discussed in the link are actually reflectors which direct light by reflection from their surfaces, but the page refers to them as lenses. Calling the reflectors "lenses" seems to be common for those light diffusers. That describes lenses - are there lenses in the things being discussed?

Thanks, Bob... got it now.Usually "lense" or "lens" refers to a transparent device that focuses light by refraction, like eyeglasses. A parabolic shape is commonly used for reflectors. It can turn a point source into a beam. Car headlights have reflectors that are roughly parabolic. Run the other direction, a parabolic reflector can focus light from a distant single source to a point, as in a telescope.
I can imagine if you built yours couple years ago it was that price but I wonder if it be the same today. I went and had an ordered 5/8 in parabolic louvers with four 2x2 LED panels equaling 17,600 lumens with adjustable brightness and kelvin. The absolute cheapest I could get it down to is around 260 and that's with me supplying my own wood. I'd still have to buy a dimmer if I feel it's necessary but I assume it won't be with the parabolicsJust some information if cost matters. I built my light for about $180. Probably about $200 or so if you had to buy wood, but I've got a ton of wood laying around from when I had a sawmill.
The ones you use look like the onesI used these. They have 5/8" openings. I'm not sure why they only show a 5 pack as I was able to just buy two.

FWIW, I tried the parabolic louvers and while they focused the light directly on the table, the brightness was not substantial enough for my to justify the added expense so I returned them.
Lighting: Parabolic Louvers vs. Egg Crate
This topic came up in another thread and I thought it may warrant its own discussion for those that are interested. The older I get (currently 52) the more important good table lighting is. As some of you may know, I've built a couple custom lights. One for my 1950's AMF (similar to an...forums.azbilliards.com
Ya it was about 4 yrs ago, just looked at current price, the lights are about the same but the panels are a touch more.I can imagine if you built yours couple years ago it was that price but I wonder if it be the same today. Yeah that's not bad at all. Big cost going with a parabolics versus the egg crateYa it was about 4 yrs ago, just looked at current price, the lights are about the same but the panels are a touch more.
- 3 2x2 programable panels $45 ea after 11% rebate Menards $135
- 2 2x4 egg crate $17.50 ea after 11% Menards $35
- Spray paint Menards $8
- chain to hang Menards $10 So about $190 plus tax and wood
about $225- $250
diffuser doesn't need to be exp/hi-tech. it just spreads out the light across the table. crates work fine.Yeah that's not bad at all. Big cost going with a parabolics versus the egg crate
I definitely found the cheapest 5/8 online at $130 for the 2. Egg crates do work but parabolic seems to work better for keeping the light concentrated on the table and not the wall plus from the post Rexus31 posted, it appears to me the glare is better with parabolic. I think thats why Diamond and Littman use them. Here is Rexus31s table with bothdiffuser doesn't need to be exp/hi-tech. it just spreads out the light across the table. crates work fine.
In my defense, I had the standard diffusers on upside down in that pic. They are flipped now and do not glare.I definitely found the cheapest 5/8 online at $130 for the 2. Oh yeah? Got a picture of it now? I guess it doesn't matter cause I already ordered but I am still curiousIn my defense, I had the standard diffusers on upside down in that pic. They are flipped now and do not glare.
