Ok folks,

I can put a 7' Diamond ProAm in my dining room or put a 9' in the garage (at this time non finished garage).
There are pro’s and con’s to both. If you had this dilemma what choice would you make.

Thanks!

Being in Portland, you may want to talk to others with garage tables. I had one briefly in an unfinished, unattached garage. It took forever to heat up the room, but it could double as a 'party' area. A friend also has a garage GC, which he uses more often in the warmer months or after drinking enough to not mind the cold while it heats up. Another local player has a 9' Diamond, but it is in, iirc, a finished garage with heating.

Since there's a serious lack of 9' Diamonds in the PDX area, that's probably what I would opt for. You can hit up all of the bars for barbox-sized ones. Either way, enjoy.

I could never, ever give up my garage. Got a Skeeter bass boat, and two ATV's in there, along with my reloading bench and tipping lathe.

OTOH, we NEVER eat in our dining room.

Maniac (choice was an easy one for me)

I had a 8 foot cheap brunswick in the garage but when I got my new car and bike I wanted the garage back so I got rid of it.

Now my wife let me turn the dinning room that we never use into a billiard room with my new 7.5 ft Olhausen Drake.

be a player and do both!!! why settle for one. One is good-two is better.

cbi1000,

Are you married? ?

I designed & built my house around my Sport King. It was in the Greatroom.

Do you have enough room to shoot all the way around both with a full cue?

Those questions could be the deciding factors for my advice.

Best to All,

You cant be married. A pool table in the dining room would never fly.

You can put a 9' in the garage. The garage will have to be climate controlled. Humidity is your biggest enemy.

Sorry, another duplicate. I'm having tech issues.

Best Wishes to All,

Climate will affect and even damage a table in a garage IMO. 9 foot is great for your stroke but who doesn't love running out all the time on the 7ft'r

I'm married and just got my new olhausen onto our dinning room which is now becoming my billiard room.

I'd hire a private investigator to follow your wife.

Just kidding of course. My wife agreed to my table sharing the greatroom which put a bit of confinement on the other useful section.

I agreed to her playing ball for many years after our marriage & having children.

A good marriage is a two way street of empaphy, understanding, selflessness, giving, & sharing.

I'm glad your wife is willing to share eating with you while sitting on the floor, because I know you are not going to eat from off of the pool table.

I have the most fun on full-size tables, but that's preference.

You have to hold your stroke back so much on the 7 footers, just don't enjoy playing pool that way.

you could put a 9 footer in the garage and heat it like mine. i have a finished garage w a heating system in the table that i leave on so its warm and fast whenever i go out to hit balls and coincidentally im in oregon too. i use space heaters to heat the rest o the garage and it heats up fast.

size vs placement

size: at least a 9' foot table, 10' or 12' will be better still.

place: anywhere, i will make it fit, take out a wall, reinforce floor
