What size shaft do you use?

my favorite shaft i took some verniers and measured it every inch so i could get the exact measurments. its 12.5 at the ferrule, it narrows to 12.3 at teh start of the shaft and slowly increases in taper to end up about 12.7 8 inches back.

The shafts on my primary playing cue are 12.8 mm. They were 13.0 mm prior to burnishing, but apparently burnishing with a good leather burnisher will reduce the diameter of an unburnished shaft by about 0.2 mm, without actually removing any wood.

my original schon shafts came that size, i dont know if they were taken down or not (i bought it all used). Ive had several other shafts taken down in size and i ordered my ob-1 12.5mm. I cant play with a 13mm it just feels too big and cumbersome
My shaft size of choice is 12.5 mm
I use 12m...my last cue,and first custom,was ordered that way.I just got very used to the smaller feel of my previous cue,which I bought used and it was 12 as well.

When I was in my late teens and early 20's I used a 14 mm shaft. Alot of friends laughed but my ball pocketing was the strongest it's ever been (I only played 14.1 / high run168). I went down to 13mm over the years then got the Predator. So my progression was to go smaller and smaller and I was ok with it. Now just for kicks I went back to a 13mm again and I noticed again that my ball pocketing is better.

As for resale and from our persepective, it seems that many buyers approach a custom cue purchase with the possibility or likelihood of later flipping the cue. As your poll grows, my prediction is that will see that not many players really prefer < 12.5.
My cue has both 13 and 12.75 shafts. I started with 13 mm, got one of those low deflection laminated shafts at 12.75 ( a couple actually) took them down to 12.5 because it just seemed like I could get tons more action on the cue ball. Now I have gone back to 13mm, I don't quite get the same action, but I'll say that my shape is way better than it was before.

Funny that when I look for used shafts, I avoid the ones that are above 12.75. I guess the diminished resale value of shafts under 13mm helps me!

11.75, 12, 12.5, 12.75mm ... too many cues with different sizes
13mm is too big but for some reason I can play well with my huebler shaft being that size.
