Fishing with lures takes a lot of skill. You have to cast right into structure where most people would snag and break the line. You have to make fish bite when they ain't hungry. Wanna gamble? I'll give you a two bass head start![]()

I can just se this, a couple of guys with a pool cue with stink tied to the end and a worm then trying to put bottom english on their cast. You have at it guys but make sure it gets taped. Someone call TAR right now and get thim in on this.BRKNRUN said:Whooohooo!!!! We have achieved our first ever Fishing Woofing....(that will never happen)..... contest..!!!
I think you both should at least be required to (between fish) go a-shore and run 30 in straight pool before attempting to catch your next fish...![]()

Sometimes you may have an opponent that might work against you or play "defense" if you will. If this happens then you are doing it wrong and might be penalized. Even if you are bad at this particular sport it is still enjoyable and usually results in a win, unless you are extremely innebriated. If this happens, then replay the game as soon as you wake up.

mthornto said:An earlier poster mentioned this subject has been discussed recently. True, but more importantly, this subject has been discussed endlessly for at least the last 11 years I have been reading online pool discussions. What has been resolved or learned with all this virtual brain power directed at this topic? Nothing.
You simply can?t point at any other ?sport?, say it requires less work and ability and use that to justify an argument for another sport to make more money and get more exposure. Poker requires less skill and hard work than pool but pays better? I would agree. (I recognize poker takes skill, but it certainly is easier to become a top player than in pool.) But you know what? Swimming takes a ton of hard work and talent. Arguably, it takes more work and talent than pool. What to professional swimmers make? Of course, swimming is dull to watch on tv. Oh, wait, so is pool for 99% of the population. (The way pool is shown on ESPN, it is dull for 80% of pool fans.)
Pool is now, and has been for the entire lives of most readers, a niche sport at the professional level. Nothing is going to change that. Not a ?millionaire? bankrolling a tour or even the influx of Asian interest in the past couple of decades. We can all hold hands, shed a tear, and shake our fists at every other niche sport that gets a little coverage on TV and pool will still be in the same state at the end of the day.
Thing is, pool being such a small player in the sports pond has a lot of advantages that has also been discussed endlessly. For example:
* Anybody that can scrape together a little bit of money and borrow a cue can enter pool tournaments and play against the best players in the world. Seriously, we have the DCC. Does any other sport have anything even close to being that cool?
* Any fan can start hanging around other pool fans and before you know it you will meet and get to know some professional players. Golf all you want, you will never even meet Tiger Woods. I suck at pool and have played with Efren.
The list goes on and on. For the pool fan, being a small sport is better. Sure, it sucks for the players, but it could be a lot worse. Point is, we need to simply recognize pool for what it is ? and what it is is not bad at all. It is with this recognition things like the theactionreport.com are born and the sport truly improves, not through foolishness like trying to get it in the Olympics or start million dollar tournament panzi schemes.
LOL, I knew I shyould have tried to be a lock artist on this one.corvette1340 said:I get scotch triples with Marissa and Tina.![]()

It takes techniuqe, decisions on lure selection and retrieve for the conditions, and many other talents. This thread seems more like an unecessary bash of another sport to build up yours (if either can really be classified as sports). They both take talent to perform. Unfortunately, the general public finds pool somewhat boring to watch, so it is not on tv as much as these other things.

I've fished. It's a rod and some bait. Anyone can do it.
Man did I have a farm pond in Iowa. I caught 23 bass in one hour. They were about 4 pounds average. I didn't have a scale but the biggest had to be close to 7.5 lbs. It was a good day, but hey...anyone with a night crawler and a hook could have done itIA8baller said:I'd take that gamble on any lake/river in Iowa.![]()
