What tears me up...

For the record, I was ranting my OPINION. We all have them. No need to attack me for mine. Some of you, like Corvette, RATIONALLY explained theirs. Why can't the rest have a civilised discussion. Geez...

Fine fine...let me elaborate. Tbh, does your post even dignify a response? I suppose it does, since I'm here typing away.

I could ask you something like, How do you think people who don't play pool (seriously, at least) react when they see pool on espn? but that would be an assanine thing to ask because you already know the answer. But that doesn't stop you from making a thread to "rant" about it does it. I've seen you arrive and go and come and go again, and every cycle brings forth the same litany of nonsense. That's okay, usually I just ignore it but as you can see from my little avatar on the left of your screen, you've struck a nerve against my inner angler with your (once again) retarded comments about a subject (a sport, even!) that you know nothing about.

My avatars are turned off, sweetie. And I grew up fishing and still occasionally go. I'll actually be fishing in Florida this weekend. That's my spring break weekend :)

I just want to weigh in (snicker snicker snicker, that's like a fishing joke eh !) with the comment that I feel our old friend Drivermaker would be proud of both IA8baller and buddha162 ... rep for both of yall !

I beg to differ about bass fishing, ESPECIALLY tournament fishing. You try getting up at 3:00 in the morning, running a boat 30-50 miles down a lake in all kind of extreme weather, then trying to cast a lure 30 to 40 feet into a strike zone the size of a dinner plate, all the while standing on the bow of a boat with 4 foot swells bouncing the boat up and down like a friggin' yo-yo. Now, repeat this process for 4 straight days for a FIRST PLACE payout of about $25,000 on the average (and this is the professional B.A.S.S. tour). You think pool has got this beat as a sport??? Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. It's tough as hell!!!

For the life of me, I never understood that catch and release fishing. IMO, it's a form of animal abuse. How would you like to be in place of a bass or any fish for that matter, when, you're out there in the water trying to get a square meal and at the same time avoiding anything and everything that could eat you to finally find a delicious looking lure? Then the action- crazed hook and liner yanks you with a nasty metal hook and swings and tags and pulls the corner of your mouth every which way possible. Mr. Fish in the meantime tries with all it's might to escape, tearing tissues and having muscle spasms. Finally, Mr. Hook and Liner prevails, grabs you by your lower jaw and hoists you up in the air with glee and a photo op. When he's done his way with you or if you , for some reason, is not his type of catch, he pries that nasty hook of your mouth and flops you back in the water, as if saying, don't bother with my bait again. How would you like to be held by your lower jaw and the rest of your body weight dangling behind you. Looks like alot of pain to me! It's big time psychological and physical trauma. A PTSD central.

Don't get me wrong. I am by no means against fishing. To my recollection and understanding, fishing as history and tradition has it is for the purpose of gathering food for sustenance. For godsake if you catch it, eat it! If you have a problem with eating it, leave it alone or PM me :D .

I surely hope it's not just a matter of time before some nut carries this s**t to hunting. So how are they gonna call that one, Shoot and Patch? 'Oh sorry bambi, we're gonna have to patch you up coz you didn't meet the legal size!' And then send bambi on his own sorry way. :o

Speed pool looks comedic to me. I'd rather watch Corvette eat cheese snacks while taking a poop.[/QUOTE]

this is going on my signature if you don't mind.

It seems someone never really Bass Fished for money :P:P:P You'd be amazed on how having the knowledge of spawning times.. water temp.... sun/cloud, hot/cold.............. makes a difference on what the fish is gona bite on............. Then its the presentation after that!

Poker......... I wont go there...

Wow. I had no idea that people had to rely on spawning times, water temperature, sky/cloud conditions when it came to bass fishing. I thought it was all about what bait you used. When I saw it on television, I thought it was about a bunch of guys competing to see who caught the most fish.

Now two questions:

Why do some rods cost so much more than others?

Is bass fishing different than "regular" fishing? Because I thought it was all the same, except you were fishing for bass.

(I apologise to anyone I offended with my ignorance!)

I have two screens up. Just going back and forth between breaks, which are frequent.

Seeing bass fishing and poker on ESPN. These are not sports. Bass fishing doesn't even require skill. And poker is a bunch of cards. Put it on the game show network!

you're joking right no skill in fishing and poker is just a bunch of cards.i myself enjoy all three sports.and find all three take dedication and skill(pool, poker and fishing).obviously you don't feel the same way.if you can't catch a fish or beat a low limit card game why try to downgrade them it only makes you look bad. why not do something positive instead like work on your'e pool game then maybe you will get good at it and not be such a NIT!!!

If your questions are genuine here are some answers

Why do some rods cost so much?
Same reason as why do some pool cues cost so much. Just a little different becuase there is no art work in fishing rods, just performance.
Some rods are made of different material for various performance attributes. Flexibility, sensitivity, durability. In the fishing industry you get what you pay for.

Is bass fishing that different? Really, no if you are fisihing for bass in a farm pond down the street. These guys fish in large bodies of water, must know the topology of the lake, water temp, etc. They are doing the job of the captain, mate and fisherman everytime they go out. To apply it to saltwater you may think it is easy to get on a charter boat and catch fish, but if you had to control everything such as where to go, at what time, under what conditions it gets much harder.

Reason #2374 I hate communicating on the internet. Did you mean "tear" like the salty liquid rolling down your cheek, or "tear" like I'm gonna tear ass out of this parking lot if I lose on this air barrel...

:p

P.S. I know you've been away from the forum for a while but this has been discussed quite a bit recently. As well as "why don't pool players make as much as golfers. etc. etc."

-J

Either way (tear as in rip or "tear" as in salty eye liquid) her post makes perfect sense.

For your info. my first word is pronounced "EYE THER" not "E THER." In case you were confused AGAIN.

As a matter of fact you should consider not reading OR posting on the internet if you are that much confused. What would happen if someone gave you a hand written note that stated the same words. Would you be unable to read or interpret it?

Did you graduate from high school or just get pushed through?

Well said. I have a Bass Boat and I Bass fished for years and it's very tough and expensive, especially now that gas has gotten so high. Anyone who thinks catching a limit of large mouth Bass and winning a tournament doesn't take skill has never tried it....
