What tip diameter is better for your accuracy?

years ago... before my eyes were that sharp, I would had preferred using a 13mm tip cue on hitting a very thin or extremely thin long cut shots to the far end of the table. the distance wouldn't matter since I'm hitting the OB just right at the right speed and right spot or angle.

over the years, my eyes got blurry and developed some eye distortions which affected my focus. I now cannot execute those long thin cuts perfectly using a normal 13mm tip, and I often switch to an 11.2mm tip whenever I try to pocket those type of long cut shots. often I think if this is something psychological or could be also true that it does affect the accuracy with concerns to correct focus due to maybe the size of the tip which makes my sight on the CB much easy to see and judge. anyone of you has the same feeling towards this?

I don't think you are becomming less accurate. But just realizing that you can shoot more accurate with a smaller tip. I've played with a 13mm many years. I've never got any problems playing with 13mm. I recently changed it to a 12mm. It's just amazing how more accurate you can shoot with a smaller tip. I just can't go back to 13mm anymore, it looks huge to me. Even a 12mm tip looks quite big. I think, I would prefer 11.5mm even more.

I don't know if its right or wrong but my feeling has always been, to
shape the tip to the same curvature as the cue ball. Then it becomes
a matter of personal preference. Most top players lean towards a 12
to 13 mm tip. The more surface contacting the cue ball gives you a
better chance of making good solid contact. I think this is a pretty
accepted law of physics.

Tip size doesn't matter for accuracy. In theory tip shape (dime shape vs. nickel vs. quarter, etc.) can make a slight difference in how much small stroke errors matter, but it's not enough to worry about. The stroke errors themselves matter much more than the shape of your tip.

Such a flat tip would mean you're hitting on the edge of the tip for half your english shots. You need a more rounded tip to avoid hitting on its edge.

Actually, it's not. Surface area doesn't necessarily increase total friction. And a bigger tip doesn't increase the contact area (a softer tip might).

I was told size didn't matter :(

One of the biggest lies.
One groupie spread the word around on this stuck-up player in my local hall.
Hot shot can't get it past 3 inches. :D
She only told her Tuesday night league team though.
I am sure they won't spread it around specially that groupie chick is no longer around.

No wonder the hot shot's loud and arrogant. He's got a Napoleon short pe#^er syndrome.
