I have a few house cues and two shafts that i need to put ferrules on. What type of ferrule material do you guys suggest? Should i use the same on both? Should i buy the threaded ferrules?

thanks for the help

Use the best...get you some of the old yellow Micarta...that'll make your house cues "hit" great & worth a bit more.:D

Ive heard alot about the old Yellow Micarta, why is it so good and why did they stop making it?

I agree...they also are light and stay relatively clean. The only downside is on about 1 out of 20-25 dirt shows up...and you have to cut the sucker off and put on another.

Its so good because it hit great...and they stopped making it because it'll kill you.;)

It was strong, had a medium hit and was cheap. It was on many of the older cues so that is the feel many of the old timers got used to and now miss. Now a days, everyone is of the belief that it was what the old cue makers used and now is almost unavailable so it must be the best. Like most things, if it's unavailable then everyone wants it. I, myself like a good LBM better but it's getting harder to come by also. It's manufacture was halted because of it's asbestos content.

When speaking of hit, Ive noticed I like a cue that seems to have a slight delay when you shoot a certain speed, its like you can feel the cue compress, useualy a tip above center, is when Id get this sensation... Been a long time since I have held a cue like this though. Would this have anything to do with the ferrule material?

I ask because I know very little about ferrules and how they may or may not have anything to do with the hit.
