What was the first cue you ever owned?

Cheap graphite cue. Then cheap wood cue from Walmart probably. Then a Dufferin Destiny for $90. Then an Adam, and then a Schmelke. I still have all of them too.

The first cue I ever owned, I bought it in a pawn shop. I had started getting better and my friends all had their own cues so I went out to find one and didnt know anything other than K-mart cues suck so I went into a pawn shop and found one. I paid $40 for it and a case and I still have it(in my closet). It has no name on it whatsoever, but it plays great. Its a steel jointed cue with a nice wrap and the points are kinda cool. I will post pics later and see if anyone can identify it....Im serious, it has no name on it at all but hits as good as a schon, pechauer or joss.

Pawn shops are an awesome place to find cues provided you know what to look for.

Cues

My first cue the I owned was a schon cx-50 then I boughta dufferin sneaky for those off beat places where my schon never went.A sledgehammer followed soon after. Now I have a custom troy downey and I'm having a denali break cue custom made to match the troy downey cue .

One piece snooker cue... won off friend as part of payment for his losses. Stored in poolhall under lock and key in rented cue rack.
Lost ownership when business changed hands... new owner would not acknowlege my ownership even tho it was not even remotely similar to any of his "house cues".
Never saw a "two piece" till several years later.
Smallest table around was 10 ft. snooker table... used for 8 ball.

Soon after... dinosaurs became extinct....

First time I saw a "bar-box" I was travelling in the U.S. Thought it was a "novelty table". Could not believe anyone would really play on such a thing...

Sam-Pay-Owe

I bought my first cue in '65 for $75, when I was making 85 cents/hour. I can't spell the name, but it sounds like "sam-pay-owe".

The butt was carved with many pearl inlays, I never liked the way it played and sold it for $35 about a year later one night when I was broke.

Now I wish I still had it.

Bought my first cue from a friend for 40 bucks. Some knowlegable people said it was a Richie Florence cue. Of course, Richie wasn't making the cues himself but I believe he had a brother that cranked them out. I really liked it and don't remember what happened to it. I eventually found another one that was very nice but it got stolen.

First Cue

Basic 4-point veneered Richard Black, Ebony butt, SS joint, 2-shaft, ivory ferrules, irish linen wrap bought in 1983. Had to really "rough it" with no money for inlays at that time. :D

Currently still have, wrapped with Python Skin by AnnieO, and you should be able to see it in my avitar. Hits great.

Huebler sneaky pete. Hit alright. Could never break with it unless I literally wanted it broken. I broke two of them breaking, my friend boke one when it comes to mind too.

My first cue

Palmer sneeky pete. No logo no collar no butt plate. A sleeper. I still regret letting it go for $50 in 1985.

First custom cue I ever laid eyes on: Dan Janes Joss 1972 with "snowman" inlays. That's what started it all.

Ever heard of Cobra cues?

I bought a Cobra: yeah I never heard them either. Got is for like $75 at a rec room supply store like 17 years ago. The cue held up pretty good for keeping it in my trunk for years. Then eventually demoting it to a break cue. Then I sold it to a friend. then it switched hands a few more times. I always wonder where she is today. After this I bought what I thought was the cat's ass in cues; Cuetec (not anymore). This is also now a break cue that I no longer use so it is a house cue that all my amateur friends seem to love. (dumb asses...lol). Then I settled for my longest used cue to date A mid price Mcdermott. Then a few Sneaky Pete's one Duffren, one Predator. Now I have my beloved 60" Josey that I call my "mutt" cue because it no longer has the original parts (shaft, tip, joint/pin). And a Varney original J/B cue.

Harvey Martin ....

My first custom was a near new Harvey Martin and it played very well (as I remember) ... My first expensive custom was a Palmer Model "M" with 2-shafts ...

first cue

My first cue was a $110.00 biagio cue. Anyone ever here of these? It was a great playing cue until some jerk leaned against it and bent the pin. Since then I have had many cues,Black Boar,Kersenbrock, schon, viking, meucci, mcdermot, players, predator, and many others. I now play with a Pat Diviney custom cue and I love them. I own 3 of them.

My first was a $70 Viking that I had for about a year, then moved on to a Huebler AS-2 that I still have

Just sitting here thinking about all the amazing cues I've seen sold, traded and worshipped on this site. Makes me wonder if some of those that have graduated to high-end collectibles started out with a hand me down custom cue or a POS.

I will start: My first cue came to me as a birthday present when I was 15. A sweet black graphite Excalibur or Eliminator or something like that. I actually picked it out myself so I can't blame anyone else. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Since then I graduated to a custom Scruggs and I am awaiting a custom Zylr.

The first cue I owned was shortly after I started playing at age 16. It was a MALI cue, model number 4 from the ad. It was green with a white/green specs wrap. I used that cue til it ended up being in sad shape, and I sold it to my buddies' uncle. I actually liked that cue, so I tried finding him to buy it back but to no avail. I've never seen the model since, but remember all the good times I had using that cue.

First was a 3-piece cue with weights at age 12, by 14 I bought an old palmer with a brass joint and screw on tip. I then went to meucci's and finally found my favorite cue of all time. I don't know who made it in schick's(sp?) shop, but it was a sleeper made for a friend of mine, Lee Boone that was 3/4" longer than a normal stick. It was a dufferin butt with a phenolic joint and 2 shafts. Had that cue for 12 years before it was stolen out of my truck. During that time I had George's, Parrots, Wheeler and now a Bludworth but nothing I liked more than the sleeper.

lucasi sneaky pete. still play with it as i am pretty new to the game(1 year playing about)

My father had a 8ft sears table in his parent garge one night he won a low end palmer. The good palmers out of the second catalog. So we always had a table. I played every day when I would come home from school I always used that cue. So being young and stupid I needed a cue of my own. My dump ass buys a fiberglass excaliber that lasted for about a week. Take a look at my avatar thats my playing cue now Perry Weston 21 points and all ivory.

First cue

My first cue wasa Brunswick MasterStroke. Leather wrap. Bought it for $25.00off a guy at the pool room. Then a Viking. Broke the shaft. Next one was a Hubler 21 oz. w/2 shafts. Bought in 1972. Still have it. Don't know what model, just liked the looks of it.
