what was the most amazing shot you have ever made

Last year at a Joss event, Ultimate Billiards. Young gun Mr Tony "I don't where the envelope is" Roberto showed patience and wisdom beyond his years by locking me up behind the 8 after the break rather than banking the 1 while the score was 8-8 going to 9.

While shooting and just hoping to hit the 1 ball. A voice in my head slowly said "smooth high right"
Well I made it and then walked over to see that the 2-9 was lined up dead straight to the side. I was so straight in I shot the shot quickly because I didn't want to look at it and start to get that dislectic feeling I use to get while shooting combos.

I was in a 9 ball tournament and I had gotten on the wrong side of the 7 ball and I wanted to make the shot without touching the 8 ball so I sized up the shot and it was like mind over matter how it all went down made the 7 and got possition on the 8 straight in the side( never touched the 8 ball) and 9 in the same pocket as the 7 as you could see the 8 was above the 7 " mind over matter IMO :D

Here is another. The set up was such I couldn't inside english the one for the two because of the 5 and 3. I shoot a trick shot nearly exactly the same so I thought I could pull it off. Worked like a charm, from there the run out was easy. It was some tournament, I think I got his attention. Really its a billiard shot if nothing else.

For reference, the shot can be made with top left, top right or just top english.

I think this is one of the greatest shots i've ever done. This was in a tournament I had a few weeks ago. This guy I was playing broke and called a push. At first I was thinking Hah, what kind of a push is this, of course im not going to play it. But then I thought about and just gave it a try,
I ended up running out the rest of the rack..
The table was set up a little like this

This was my personal favorite and first amazing shot I have ever done. Thank god there were many spectators. This was a while back, my first tournament, I was around 14-15 years old. It was in a bar here in Georgia and somewhere around my fourth round. I was paired with my brother, a very funny thing to the both of us. I thought about pocketing the 9 so if I gave him ball in hand he wouldn't combo it in. Im very good with masses and it was a good thing I thought about. Don't remember the exact positions but it was something like this.

For me the most Amazing Shots I have made are Sinking the 9 BALL on Break in Nine Ball in 9 Ball. Did one yesterday, and after the Q Ball made contact I said to the guy I was playing with, that's a Nice Break, a Split Second later the 9 Ball went Down in a Pocket. I said to Gus the guys I was playing with. Your Rack Again. :)

Also last Winter I was Playing 8 Ball with our Local club the "Hit Shots". They play that the 8 Ball MUST BE BANKED TO WIN. Well My Cue ball was at one end of the Table blocked by two of the opponents Balls, the 8 Ball was at the other end of the table near a Pocket. Well I tried a Bank Shot that was 100 to 1 Odds of me making. Some how it works, and everyone was all impressed... :p

Err...did you hop over the 8 ball after making the 7? You didn't mention what english you used and how you hit the ball.

You actually tried to go for the 3 rail zig zag bank, or did you just try to hit the 1 and hope you lucked it in? The person who made this thread said no luck shots, only shots that you either called or intended to happen that way.

I put so much spin on the CB I could've counter-acted the Earth's rotation.

Barbara

I was practicing a shot like that a few days ago. Its a great feeling when you hit it perfect a few times in a row.

I like that shot so much, I practice it from both sides.

Here's a shot that Jimmy Caras taught me:

START(

It doesn't come up often, but if you've got this funny angle on the 8-ball, it's well worth knowing how to spin the CB to get po' on the 9. I actually saw John Ditoro do this same shot on the ESPN Challenge series. And practice this from both sides of the table because unless you're ambidextrious, you do favor one side from the other.

Hi-Barbara, I don't see where your putting the 8 ball is it in the side if so how are you drawing the cue back?

Sorry, I have a bandaid on my forfinger and I can't move the pointer too well.

Yes, the 8-ball is going into the side pocket and by putting low outside draw on the CB it will spin towards the left short rail after it contacts the long rail.

Not a shot that comes up often, but worthwhile to know it when it does.

I actually did sit there and calculate the shot. I know people have different ways of banking, like jewett's system or whatever. A friend of mine by the name of Sadowski taught me a bank system where you vision a mirrored pocket, just aim for that pocket and the bank goes in every time ( unless you hit with english). Well all I did was double the length of the visioned pocket and aim for that, which gives it a triple bank. All I had to do is kick it with incredible accuracy and it would go in. The system works so great, I cant remember the last time I missed a bank shot. :D But that shot did have some where around a 10% chance of going in?
The thing is I intended and actually did call that shot. :D

This is a so-so shot, not very likely but for some strange reason this came to me instantly when I saw the situation. It was in a Finnish ranking event L8 match against good player Stefan Sellberg. Once I studied to angles, I turned to Stefan and told him that the only thing that can go in from here is the 9-ball. To my (and his) amazement the 2-rail kick worked and the half-ball cut 9-ball went in. The cushions were playing quite tightly and with the system I use the half ball angle was easy to find. Not a bad shot which I actually called out loud... in front of Stefan's home town pool room crowd. :p

Went on to beat him 7-1 with making only 1-2 mistakes in the whole match.

this is probably the best shot i ever pulled in tournament play. i had to jack up close to 90 degrees with draw.

Great thread! Here's one of mine, made a few weeks ago at a bar tournament. With extreme right I banked the eight-ball in the side (arrow marked with A) and went seven rails, QB position after the shot illustrated by the three-ball. The last two arrows are curved only because I ran out of the regular straight arrows :)

It's a lovely power shot, but I think you got the final angles wrong. The third last rail hit should have straightend up much more sending the cue ball nearer to the center pocket and coming down onto the end rail, not the side rail as drawn. I believe that pattern is all but impossible unless you had a very slippery top end rail.

Maybe you just forgot the exact pattern the cue ball took. I'm not doubting you made that shot and got onto the 9. Just by a slightly different route than that drawn.

The angles are not 100% correct, however I'm sure I hit the side rail instead of the end rail. QB speed was killed before I hit the end rail. The cloth on that particular table is loose bordering on being almost unplayable - it holds spin very well but kills ball speed very effectively too. I can't comment on the rails. I don't know if the loose cloth had the effect on the outcome but I know I hit the side rail.
