What was your first cue?

My first good one was a Muecci HOF-1, I bought about 18 years or so ago, for about 130.00. I used it for a while and put it away. This past year I gave it to my youngest daughter as a graduation present and she plays in a league with it now.

1st cue

In 1962 I won an old brunswick "willie hoppe" autograph with a brass pin set in stepped up wood that made the shaft fit nice and tight.I foolishly sold it in it's palmer case for $800 about ten years ago. Wish I didn't but "que sara"

A Cobra and I paid $75 for it then sold years later after it was demoted and used as my breaking cue for years. Man I miss that cue. Bet I could get it back, then I'll send it to Varney and he can fix it up for me....LOL

my first real cue was a Meucci plain jane back in like 82, no stain, white wrap, and played real well. Then I started working at a pool room that sold Black Boars.....I got 2 at cost.....:D

I have no clue where they are today....the stupidity of youth!

My first was a McDermott D-6 played with for a long time. Still have it and many many more. Now I play with a Frey SP and a Scruggs one off.

My first cue was a black Cuetec, had the cue for about a month, then gave it to my friend. I went and ordered a Meucci O-5 with a black open wrap, wish I still had that cue. That is where it all started back in 1985.

My first cue was a three-piece Adams cue. The tip was about 12mm, and it had two removeable metal rings for adjusting the weight. Man, what a piece of crap.

Since then I've played with a Mali, a Viking, a McDermott, three Schons, a Predator, a Scruggs Sneaky Pete, two South Wests, and my current Mottey.

First cue was an Adams (can't remember the model) I paid $85 for it in 1994...I bought it from a store called "Pool Supply" ......It was actually a place that had Swimming Pool Supplies, but also sold cues, balls, etc.

At the time I had no regard for equipment and was only a part time banger, so I kept it in the back of my truck.........

This cue also happens to be the first cue I had stolen from me......

I forgot to mention that I didn't actually purchase my first cue, I just happened to spot it in the back of a truck one day.

Paid $45.00 for a Schmelke in 1980-81 timeframe. Golf leather wrap and a 5lb ;) brass to brass joint.

Good club for a beginning banger.

My first was a Stratford hustler...paid $35 for it at Playworld (still there) in Asheville, NC. I remember thinking..."man I got my own cue now, I'm a player"!
When I won my first tournament I bought what I thought was a "real cue"...one of the Pro Tour Series Meucci's with the purple veneers. Then I got harassed about it....so I then bought again what I thought was a "real" cue....Balabushka...made by Adam. When I was at a pro event and saw the custom stuff...I freaked...then tried to trade my cue & they laughed. So I FINALLY ordered my first "real" cue...brand spankin' new, solid BEM Bludworth. Then you learn about the Cogs & SW...the journey begins....:D :D :D

My first was a helmstetter that I bought from Blatt Billiards in NYC.

Spent every dollar of my paycheck that week and couldn't even afford a case for it and the guy goes before i walked out .. wait wait. i can't let you leave here without a case for that and he gave me a soft case lol.

Still have the cue, it's still straight, it's about 18 or so years old now.

Did it look like the top cue in this picture? I bought mine in 1975 for $50 with a case. Mine actually plays well. I removed the weights and shortened the thread in the third section. This came in handy when a shorter cue was need at bars with interfering walls or for jump shots. This was the second cue I bought. The first was a Minnesota Fats from Woolworth's.

What was your first cue? How much did you pay? How long did you own it? Any good stories about it?
My first cue was a Joss West plain birdseye maple cue. I bought it new from Eldridge Tucker for $150 and I owned it about 10 years. The cue had a number of battle scars on it and a local friend of mine offered me $275 for it one day and I sold it to him. I know it was probably worth more, but it would have needed a refinish job so I let him have it. He was very happy with the cue and I wasn't sad to see it go since the cue was too heavy for me. I didn't realize how much that cue was holding me back until I started playing with a 58" 19oz cue instead of that 57" 21oz Joss West.

My first cue... and a good story to go along with them. YES THEM.

My first cue was an Eliminator, black gloss, with a satin black shaft and grip area. Never needed to chalk your hands cause the way the shaft was created. Had it stolen by a cop (to the best of my knowledge). In michigan i was driving down a dirt road in the winter, the snow had just started to thaw. I hit a mad patch of slush and it pulled me into the ditch. I hid my cue on the floorboard of the back seat (the doors didnt lock) and walked to a friends house a couple miles away and got a ride back to the house, where a cop was waiting. My license was revoked at the time so he was happy to serve me a ticket and a court date. I go back to the car the next day to wait for the towtruck, low and behold my case is missing from the back seat. The portable CD players is still sitting on the front seat, but the stick is gone. Never saw it again.

I loved the cue so much and shot well with it, SO i went and bought a 2nd one, along with that Marlboro viper, and a butterfly Jump cue. Went to a friends house out of town and had my sticks with me, but i didnt want to leave them in my car. SO i hid the sticks in her closet. ONCE AGAIN the sticks get stolen.

Needless to say i now watch my case like a hawk, and if i have them with me, they come with me. I never did buy another eliminator though... seems to be bad juju around that stick for me, but i must say, i havnt played the same since. Luckily my Predator SPWU is treating me well, as is my Meucci Original E-6, and my Rauenzahn Custom.

My first cue was a $10 Budweiser cue. Got it at a bar. Realized it wasn't what I wanted when I started playing regularly. Gave it to my son-in-law's dad for helping me with my roof (he is a BIG Budweiser fan for some reason).

First Cue

My first cue was an Adams. It had a thin shaft about 12 1/4 mm.
