Ok many people speak of different woods playing different and giving a different harmonic tone. Can someone describe how the feel would change on the following woods?

Shedua, Straight Maple, Bacote, Tulipwood, Ebony

If they are cored then the hit will be consistent presuming the same joint shaft tip ferrule and coring wood are used correct?

Just looking to pick some brains.

Thanks

I only ring the wood to make sure there is not a buzz in it.
A crack in the wood will some time make a buzzing sound.
I have a shit load of cues, most of them are not cored..
They all play great.............

Some cuemakers claim that once cored all woods play the same. They may play closer to the wood that they were cored with, but I still do not think they play the same. It just lessons the feel of the outside wood. To me Ebony hits better cored, as it is a hard flat hitting wood when not cored. A maple core going through it livens up the hit, but it still does not hit like maple. It plays in between. So coring all your woods with a maple core will make them all play about half way between maple and the outside wood. So they play more like maple, but not just alike. The larger the inside maple core the more they play like maple. I have always felt 3/4" cores are too large for forearms, but they have been used by other cuemakers successfully.
