I'm no big math guy, but I wonder about how we arrived at the basic package of 2.25 inch balls, 4.5-5 inch pocket sizes 57-58" cues, 12-13mm tips, 2:1 table sizes, etc.,
and would guys like leo, or the father of geometry, euclid, have designed any of it much differently?

Dunno, but Pythagoras would've opted for the triangle over a racking template, I think.

Da Vinci would have gotten hooked on pool; spent all of his time trying to master the game, and died penniless.

Leonardo would have given us pool balls with a Fibonacci theme..

His instructions for the perfect stance might’ve been beyond the range of normal understanding, however

As he did in at a minimum some of his other work, he would have used "the divine proportion" regularly if not exclusively...

If he was alive today he'd have at least few others making cues who understand why.

I'm guessing you don't play bar boxes and outside of Amsterdam. The felt on some barboxes that I've seen, I swear it could be canvas. :D

If DaVinci did design stuff for pool, I have a gut feeling Longoni would end up producing it.

Instead of felt, DaVinci would have had us playing on canvas.

LOL, that made me laugh. Yes, I probably only play on a barbox about once every five years.

The old backed cloth from decades ago felt like canvas...but it didn’t play too bad.
....Buddy Hall actually liked it...said the cut angles were truer.

Mona Lisa would have been a toothless crackhead sellin' hummers behind the poolhall. ;)

Leonardo da Vinci once stated that only an idiot or a genius could draw a perfect circle...
...he would then draw a circle and tell people to measure it any old way.

So we now know he could draw a ball better than Larry Nevel

That would partially explain why I appeared to play better. I felt it was more forgiving.
