Jude Rosenstock said:Of course, your third option is to just blast the 8 into the 1 and let him try and run out. If it's against a mediocre player, that might be your best play.
Beware_of_Dawg said:usually, Im taking a version of the above.
If Im up 2-0 shooting lights out I might feel heroic. Great time to go into my bag of tricks.
Shoot extreme high english with the cue jacked uphitting top rail and jumping over the 8 to hit the 1 clean.
Jude Rosenstock said:He said "no jump". I took that to mean no jumping but maybe it meant no jump cues? If you can jump, there's a fourth option.
Beware_of_Dawg said:Hmmm.... Thats interesting, does using a rail assisted jump fall under those same rules? I mean your not hoping directly over the ball your actually not jumping the cue ball your hitting a rail and the rail is popping the ball up off the surface and over the 8... I wonder where that would fall in these rules.... Neil ? would you get called for that?
soulcatcher said:I would shoout the 8 into the back half of the 1 ball, sending the 1 ball to the side rail around the 1st diamond, taking away the 1-9 combo. If they get out from there, good for them. You have a 2 game lead in a race to three, and are shooting well, make them beat you.
Neil said:...I did go for the shot 'out of the box', but I put 110% effort into it.
Hint, hint.... I felt really good about the results of my shot, and at the same time, felt a little bad about it. I did win the game on my shot.[/QUOTE]
I want video or I'm calling bullhockey! I just don't see how you can legally pot the 9 on this shot.
poolfire said:your good if you can do it 1/4" away from the rail

Neil said:I knew the hint would give it away.I have pulled off great masse shots in the past, and I can still see them like I just did them. Some shots you just never forget. I hadn't pulled one off in years though, and figured this was a good time to attempt it. If I don't make it, or get the hit, he wins. Score 2-1 me, and it would be my break. This gives him a chance, but I'm really trying on it. I looked at it, and knew I HAD to hit the back side of the 1. If I hit the front side, odds are he still gets the combo. I aimed it up, and pulled it off!:grin-square: Now I have another shot I will always remember! (And yes, I really do wish it was on video!) The reason I felt bad was because most in the tournament saw it, and now really knew they were outgunned. oops.:embarrassed2:
And, yes, this does sound like bragging, but that's only because I am!This shot deserves some bragging!
