Whatever Happened to These Guys?

What a great talent Amar Kang is. I am saddend to report he doesn't play pool anymore. Last I heard he was trying his hand at golf. Boy could he hit those balls when he was playing.

I always liked Amar's game. He had a lot of talent and his pattern play was simple.

Rafael's been playing around Texas of late. He won one of our Tour stops a couple of months ago. Still plays great and what a stroke.

That can't be Jam. Walter's name came up in a tourney last year where he beat some great players then was beat by Austin Murphy. Philw

You are right, Phil. The gentleman that passed away was Chris Cass and not Walter Glass. My mistake. :(

I apologize for the incorrect information, as I only meant to contribute something helpful to the thread. :p

Mainly, though, I apologize to Walter Glass and am glad to know he's still alive and well! :)

I believe JAM was confusing Walter with Chris Cass. Her photo page was Chris in the bottom left hand corner

Barry lives here in the Dallas area and very infrequently he'll show up at a local weekly tournament.

He quit playing in leagues a couple of years ago and as far as I know doesn't play too much at all.
i believe jerry prado is suffering an unfortunate incarceration.
houston whitey is living in mexico.

Other players

I also would be sad to know Walter Glass passed. However in Jan. 06 at Miz's last senior tour in West Palm Beach, I saw Walter Glass when I went to Hollywood Billiards one night and he said he moved there. Sorry to hear about him as I used to hang with him 30 years ago out in Vegas.

The last time I saw Amar Kang was at Q-Masters during the Open a few years back... maybe like 2003 or something. He was playing Ronnie Alcano an ahead set getting the 8 ball in 10ball 9 ahead for 1000. Ronnie easily beat him in 11 games... never heard or saw much of him since then.

Isn't Amar Kang related to Tony Chohan or some other top West Coast player? Or is my memory failing me?

Well, I hope I get this one right.

They're cousins. :D

Yes he does I drew him early in the 9 ball mini tourney at DCC, walked up, no practice, one the lag, broke and ran the first two racks before he got hooked on the third break.

The last time I saw Whitey he was playing with no shoes on in a tournament Don Hoppe's room in San Antonio. Sorry to hear about Jerry.

Amar and Chohan are cousins.
Amar has a super smooth touch and, I agree with Hilla, simple and clean patterns. Another great 'what happened to' player that used to run around with both Amar and Chohan is Bryce Avila. In my opinion, he was better than both of them. Everyone that has seen Bryce play agrees that he had a chance to be a world champion.

Yeah another young talent that kinda quit. I hear now hes in San Jose and playing in a pool league. Makes me laugh when I think of the player that draws Bryce in the league. Hes got very little chance to win.........

The funny thing is that Amar always played better than Tony! However Tony stuck with it, and became a top contender. As you probably know-- Amar, Tony and Bryce were buds for many years in the Bay area. I heard that both Amar and Bryce got into booze or drug problems, although they may not be now. I believe Tony told me last year that he and Bryce had a falling out several years ago, and that they hadn't spoke since.

Ever so often, we have a thread about certain players that we were wondering about. Add info, add names, and let's locate'em. My names I'm curious about:

Eddie Money (Knoxville, TN?)
Ricky Gracyk (Detroit, MICH?)
John Brown (Savannah?)
Eugene Browning
Walter Glass
Houston Whitey
Bob Ogburn
Tony Mougey (Ohio)
Keith Bennett (Fayetteville, NC)
The last time I saw Eddie Money (about 3 yrs. ago) he was living, I believe he said, in Washington and driving a big rig.

Wrong info!!!

Then it must have been his ghost that played in the Dust Off at Alexander's a couple months ago. :)

Joking aside, he's still alive.

You beat me to it Jimmy, he was the best looking corpse I've ever seen!
Walter is alive and well, still living in Vegas.
