BHQ

we'll miss you
Silver Member
several people have asked about my name, BHQ
BRENT HARTMAN with a play on "cue" at the end
and you may get a chuckle out of this , but, true story
if you have seen the movie, harry & the hendersons, when georges father wanted to track the bigfoot sightings, he said ,
the gun shop could become Bigfoot Head Quarters, or BHQ
seemed appropriate initials to me
more than BHC
that's my story and how BHQ came about

also stands for Bonehead Hillbilly Ques :D
thought i'd beat varney & dale to the punch here , lol

i don't care how i'm known,
as long as i am known,
as the guy that can give you a decent cue at a decent price.

Take your nose off the glass, and back your head up!!!

I catch crap at times for my cues being called "RAT." There is also a story behind it.

Do you think that people felt the same about Joss, Schon, It's George, Aardvark, or Samsara when they first heard the name?

The name doesn't matter if the cue plays well.

A few things always come to mind

Rat Cues does always bring a few things to mind, first and foremost rat bikes. For those that don't know, rat bikes are the clunkers or junkers of the motorcycle world. They are almost always daily transportation 365 days a year. They aren't pretty and have had anything that will work adapted to them to keep them on the road. Another better association, big block Chevrolet motors are known as rat motors, natural since smallblocks were called mouse motors.

I did wonder if the RAT name was a set of initials or came from a nickname since it seems like a business name that starts you off in the hole a bit. You and your cues have an good reputation but I admit the name seems a bit odd. Care to tell the story?

Most people think it is my initials, even some that I've worked with for years. Actaully, when I was almost a year old, I was crawling around on the living room floor. A family friend said I looked like a "rug rat." That's what everyone called me until I was 6. I started wrestling and it changed to "Mat Rat." Now, its just RAT. I've been called a lot of things over the years but this is what I answer to. ;)

thanks

Thanks for the explanation. My son picked up the nickname Rat at school or from his buddies. He was a tall skinny blond so no clue where the nickname came from for him.

Yes! It is much easier to read. I enjoy your sense of humor always. Someday maybe I'll meet you and Dieckman as he seems like a really eclectic if not eccentric and interesting guy.
