How about Claro Walnut?
Saw a Taylor acoustic made of Claro Walnut (on their site) & it was beyond beautiful.
How about Kingwood?
That pic looks alot like a piece of Brazilian Rosewood that I have. The wood in the pic is a little darker but looks close.
non-porous and varies from grey to black, as well as several growth lines. looks like african blackwood. but at this magnification, who knows?

From the picture you have sent it really looks like a flattened piece of dog sh&t that you have scraped off you shoe....any further identification is impossible. call me if you have a problem with my answer 734-428-1161
