What's the best compliment you've ever received about your pool game?

Oh---where to begin...:p

I think the biggest compliments to ANY pool player are the constant requests by opponents for "spots."

Another nice compliment is "I don't want to play you."

Most of my girlfriends say, "You have a WONDERFUL stick:p "

What a coincidence Ricky....most of your girlfriends say that to me too!!! :)

I have 2 things that really meant a lot to me. I was at a tournament 4-5 years ago and a guy who used to offer me the 8 and try to badger me into playing him back around 1985, said he couldn't believe how well I was playing. He said he wouldn't play me if I offered him the 8.
This one means even more. When Jeff Beckley first moved to Indianapolis, George breedlove brought him to Ft. Wayne for a tournament. Jeff told me a couple of years later that George told him to stay away from me when looking for action.

I played a guy one night and beat him 31 straight games of 9-ball. Afterward he walked over to me unscrewing his cue and said, "You know, I gotta tell you... it's nice to play with someone of my own caliber." He was dead serious too. I was waitin' on the compliment but it never came!

I had an older gentlemen who was a real good player in his time in the ny area say to me as i was playing an A player and running the table,"Look at this kid shoot,we should take him on the road.",then i missed a routine shot and he replied,"I dont think we will need much gas.",OUCH!:D :p :)

!!!!!!!!!!

Probably the best compliment anyone has ever given me was- I had just lost a little over a thousand to this guy an he told me with a little more work on my game I would probably have to give him a ball. Ain't life grand!

Danny came through town once and I played him in a tournament in the first round. i hadn't been playing that much but I must of got up for the match.
I ended up winning and after the match he walked over to me (I assumed he'd high roll me and tell what a nit I was etc.) Instead he gave me the greatest compliment I'd ever had. he said "I've played everybody in this state that can play-including (insert anonymous pro's name here) and that's the best playing I've seen yet."
That has stayed with me. It also showed unbelievable class from Danny-what a guy!
P.s. I lost my next two matches-he sharked me!

Best ever is

We left a pair of surprises for you back in the room.

About 6 months ago I was playing the ghost at my local pool hall, and I had fell into a rhythm that I very rarely get in, and honestly was playing some of the best pool I've ever played in my life. Half way through a C player asked me if I wanted to play or play some cheap sets and I said sure and quit was I was doing to play some. I played about 3 balls above my head pretty much all night, I was running out from places I wouldn't have a chance in hell at on an average day.

While we were playing the people next to us (group of 2 guys and 2 - 3 girls) had stopped playing and were sitting there watching the whole time. I heard one of them whisper to his girlfriend "Do you know who that is? That's the guy we were watching on TV" or something to that effect.. LOL After we were done the guy said to me "That's the best pool I've ever seen in my life and I've been playing for a long time and watching it on TV etc,..." He went on to say some other things to the effect of thanks for the "show." I thanked him for the compliment and explained to him that I've never been on Tv for playing pool. I went on to explain to him that I'm more or less a pimple on the ass of progress when it comes to pool. I think the bigger compliment was though that he didn't believe it.

I'm pretty sure the biggest compliment or rather the pinnacle of my pool playing career happened last night. I had to jump a half a ball to make the two and it left me on a weird angle on the three to get to the four. I shot the three into the corner as a kill shot with a little spin, and the cue ball slowed down touched the rail and the spin caused it to clear the 5 to get me inline on the 4.

As I was watching the cue ball do it's thing I heard a "tap tap tap" and looked up to see the guy I was practicing with tapping his cue, and when it hit the rail and came out perfect Morro said "Damn.. that was a REALLY NICE shot." (In case you didn't catch it Morro is the guy I was playing)

That's one I'll probably take to my grave with me. We only played three games, but when he walked away he payed me another compliment on my game. I'm not that great of a player all n all, and to be honest not one to really care what other people think, but for some reason that moment hit me kinda personal. I did something great in the presence of greatness, and that's something as a B player I rarely if ever have had the opportunity to do (and be successful at) before.

siberia

my buddy went to Siberia to adopt children. When he was there he went to the only pool room around.
He started hitting balls and running racks while several locals were watching. One of the locals walked up and asked him if he was "Earl Str-ee-k-lan?"
He looks nothing like him-must of thought he played like him:>

P.s. They called in the "Siberian Champ" and my buddy hit 'em with five or something-boned 'em.

One time in a field of champions and good shortstops I was asked or my autograph after a match by a lady collecting them from all the pros in attendance. I asked her why she wanted mine and she said, "by the way you played you either are somebody or you are going to be somebody."

That was nice to hear.
