I have some white nylon type material that I think will work, but I want to get some black butt cap material too. I know delrin is a very popular choice, but I've read on here about how it won't glue very well, and you can't finish over it. So what is the best material to use? I need black and white stuff so I can make some hoppe ring cues. Thanks!

Hi,

Try Juma it machines great, takes finish very well and looks perfect under the finish because the white does not get dirty and the black looks pure black.

I second juma.....i have switched to it over phenolic.....but I had some problems with some metal ringwork and the black juma using gorilla glue....never had that problem with the white. But west system glues it like a champ....

Hi,

I have also switched to it.

Gorrilla Glue states that is not to be used on Phenolics. That is doubtless the reason for you past problems because of the resin based product. Epoxy is good!!

For black use phenolic. For yellowish white Juma is a good choice. Ivorine 3 is also a decent choice for white. Ivory is still king for white in my cues, but is also expensive. PVC, Ertylite and ABS are all popular, but do not hold a finish as well as the above mentioned products. Nylon would be the worse choice of all that have been mentioned, except for Delrin if you want to finish over it.

I still go with elforyn the most for my white, although it is still pretty expensive.

Delrin is fine if you thread it .
It doesn't need finish. Just undercut it about a little over your finish's thickness.
Then level it when you polish your finish.
Delrin is very durable and has the classic look.

Juma comes in black now too.

Delrin makes great collets. That's all I will use it for.

I ordered 3 feet of black, 3 feet of white, and 3 feet of ferrule rod juma. It came today and I hope to mess with it when I get home, unless I sweat to death at work, lol.
