What's the Best Way to Support InsidePool?

JR and Alvin have gotten me through many a workday with their videos on youtube (and streams when I have time to catch them)

I already subscribed to the print magazine, and have actually "rented" a few of their videos on youtube.

But what else could they do to get more money out of a "financially literate" (read as cheap) pool player audience?

How about if they actually sent out the magazines instead of taking $$$ for subscriptions and sending nothing...I've subscribed 3 different times giving them chance after chance and I have never gotten more than 4 issues in a year...

Pool magazine!

I too have fallen victim to this magazine, wife bought a 2 year subscription back in 06 received a total of 4 magazines from that one. Thing that pissed me off most about this one was that the wife was happy that I enjoyed it then nothing and she was disappointed that I didn't get all of my birthday gift.

Was at the 09 US Open, asked about the previous subscription they took my info and said they would get back to me. Never heard anything on the previous subscription. I liked the magazine every time I read it so I figured why not get another present for myself this time, went ahead and signed up again for the 2 year deal. Received a total of 2 magazines this time, 1 one was the free one they handed out at the Open with Jonny Archer on the cover.

Can't say that I will ever subscribe to them again unless I get 5 years for free!

So no don't think that they will be getting any help from this guy!!!

J.R. and Sally are good people. I'm sure like everybody else in the print media business, they're feeling the heat.

Most people want their news right away. With magazines, they have to publish 2 to 3 months in advance. By the time the magazine arrives, the current event news is old stuff.

This is why many longstanding newspapers have gone bankrupt and belly up. Unless you have an online presence in the print media, you're going to have to come up with innovative ways to keep your sponsors sponsoring and keep a readership engaged. It's hard.

Customer service goes a long way. When customers are unhappy, it helps to address the issue and not ignore it. It's not going to go away. Sadly, it seems that some in the pool industry don't think about this much or don't place this as a high priority.

InsidePOOL gets a bad rap, but they've been nothing but good to me and mine. I haven't seen them since 2006, but I will always wish them the very best.

I would guess one of the best ways to keep readership engaged, would be to send them subscriptions they have paid for or is that stating the obvious?

Its even harder when you cash their checks but don't send them the product they paid for.

I have read on this very forum of people sending in money for product and waiting months to get their product, as well. Sometimes their inquiries go unanswered until they post about it here. :frown:

I guess everybody has a favorite punching bag. :grin-square:

I'm sure pool and billiard and billiards digest feel the "heat" to but they send me the product I pay for...i always liked inside pool content and thought it was great magazine and I tried over and over but all I can assume is the people behind the magazine are a crooks that took mine and others mone...so be it, and welcome to most of the industry unfortunately.

On a brighter note I thought the cue and table e magazine was the nuts and sure wish it would come back

You are right JAM. I got my copy of Sports Illustrated today and just found out that the Miami Heat won the NBA title.

Same thing happened to me with both Inside Pool and Billiards Digest. I really enjoyed certain sections, but both magazines sent me less than half of the subscription I paid for. Pool magazines are the only subscriptions I have ever had this problem with.

I am happy to send someone my money and support, I just want to get what I am supposed to. I am done with pool magazine subscriptions.

Support Accu-stats. They have always been great to me and I get exactly what I pay for. I have already spent hundreds of dollars with them this year alone and plan to spend more before the year ends.

I must agree with you about Pat Fleming and Accu-Stats. They have excellent communication skills, practice good business etiquette, and do give the players royalty checks from time to time.

Pat Fleming is the pioneer of recording pool happenings. Their website is a goldmine of vintage pool matches.

Or in the words of me, "I drink, therefore I am."

In the words of me, "I eat, therefore I am." :embarrassed2:

This new puppy is giving me a run for my money, literally. Keith and I are both so tired trying to keep up with Mickey. He's 7 months old now. :grin-square:

My new diet is the Mickey diet. He keeps my metabolism going in full gear.

And he's gonna be a puppy for a while...enjoy him!

We dog-sit our neighbor's dog, Belli, when they go out of town. He's a good boy. When Belli comes over, it gives Keith and I a break. Mickey is non-stop action.
