What's the most $$ you've played for?

$50 race to 7

biggest score, $160 :o

Ah yes...the most common bet ever around here. There's about 5 or 6 of us out here that play these $50 sets on a daily basis. The money basically just travels around the group.

$1000 a man, per game, partners 8ball, on a bar box, at a bar in Tampa,FL, and actually got paid on the spot, with no haggling or BS.

20 Euros per set was my highest, and I managed to break even. Against a better player at that. It was too late to continue.

I see some fabulous figures here, thousands per set. May I ask people how do you handle that kind of pressure? Do you even care?:D
I know if I had to play for a substantial amount of money (amount I cannot afford to lose), I'd pass out at right there at the table.

well... im sure its the same for me as it is for anyone that plays for any amount more than a few dollars... but the key to it is... once it goes on the light there is nothing you can do except play... i use to get nervous when i first started playing but at this point i rarely ever get nervous anymore... really the only time i get nervous is the first match in any tournament... i am always nervous for some reason then... but after its over im fine...

basically what im saying is... once the money is posted... i dont even think about it anymore... i just play to win. sometimes i do... sometimes i dont... thats why its called gambling.

and one more thing... if you "cant afford to loose" you shouldnt be playing... thats a lesson i learned along time ago.. NEVER play with the rent money... of course its different if you play for a living... but us working folks arent suppose to do that.

Why gamble money when you can bet on other things?

I like taking my chances in the futures market. But it requires so much work just to get into the market. The chance of recouping losses in this market are zero. Its either buy early or don't buy at all.

race to seven in nine ball for 1000. (only after being up the grand after six hours) started at 50 a set. the funnest was 15 on the five 30 on the nine on a bar box ring game. two drunks with full pockets. kept give me and my bud cash and drinks at the same time. lol. think i won like 5 or 6 hundred. bought the buds steak and eggs at denny's later.

For me its $1000 sets in 9 ball (numerous times) and $200/ game in one pocket.

LMAO!!! well actually i just saw this today for some reason... i guess ive always been a little slow.

During my gambling days, I would play for $10-$25 a rack daily. But, on special occasions:

$15,000 - One game of 14.1 (race to 200) I won! Me :) Him :(

$10,000 - 10 Ahead (9 ball) I won! Me :) Him :(

$7,500 - Race to 21 (9 ball) I won! Me :) Him :(

This was all before I got married, started a family and came to the realization that big money matches are bad for your soul.

After beating this Hispanic fellow out of around $600 at a local bar, he asked me to go play on a big table. I told him I didn't like the big table and he suggested we go up the street and play at the poolroom a race to nine, eightball, for what I'd won vs. his Beretta GT. The car was about I'd say worth around 4500-6000 at the time. The poolroom he picked was my home base. MY TABLE. I beat him 9-1. No, I didn't keep the car. The guy and six of his buddies worked for a friend of mine, I found out.

6 years ago some local guy and I started off playing $20 a game 9 ball on the bar box. The guy was a better player than me and I played WAY over my head. Somehow I ended up 8 games up within just a couple of minutes. 3 hours later we keep jacking the bet and are playing $80 a game. 8 must of been the magic number because by the time he quit I was 8 games up on him AGAIN. :) :D

What kind of gambling addicted degenerate bets all the scratch in his pocket and then offers up his car? When you're losing, you've got to have enough horse sense to quit.

There's always next week. You can always put in a little more time on the practice table. :D You can toughen up your skill drills. :D

My code of ethics demanded that I never play someone too far below my speed and to never break a guy down to the point where he has nothing in his pocket and nothing left of his self-respect. My big money matches were when I was playing players with established and well heeled backers.

I think taking money from working people who have other obligations is where money matches in pool is bad for the soul.

Hey, if busting out a sucker doesn't trouble your conscience, then do it. It's not like you forced them to play you for the fish... :p

Made $1,000 playing $20 a game 1p (17 hours!!!!)

So, let's recap:

$1000 / $20 = 50 games (assuming that you won all 50 straight in a row)

That's pretty impressive...now consider the following:

17 hours / 50 games = .34 mean hours per game

.34 mean hours * 60 minutes in an hour = 20.4 mean minutes per game

Those are some fast games of 1P. ;)
