I just think we should take pool cues out of the stone ages...thankfully we are moving away from the standard irish linen...inlay...high deflection shafts...we have ld's, different grip technology...shaft technology..cueball technology...rail/pocket technology etc.
Good lord, doesnt anyone knows that the more inlays u have , the more racks you run !?
I used to lose to anybody when i was shooting w a plain jane, decided to get rid of it n got a 4 pointer and i was killing everybody, next i got a 25 pointer and i found myself giving 6 out n the break n i put myself thru college n bought a penthouse recently.
Hope this well kept secret benefits somebody whos willing to listen![]()
Ars gratia artis. If that doesn't resonate with you, then you probably don't read fiction, watch movies, listen to music or go to art galleries.
Check out the top selling golf clubs and tennis rackets...you will see it's about the technology...not art.

"That's what's going on here, especially with the two positions for the weighted cylinder that the company calls a gravity core. Better players tend to have a consistent impact location, so the gravity core can be placed to line up with that area. "

It doesn't resonate with me as a pool player looking for performance...personally I would prefer my cue stick not be gouged out in multiple places for the sake of "eye candy".
What's the point of boobs? I have two of them and they're worthless. I tried playing with them, but it just wasn't the same.
Points on a cue serve two purposes. Decoration, of course, is one reason. Adding structural strength is the other. This fact is readily apparent in the full-splice versions.
Having said that, however, I believe it was George Balabushka who claimed that splices effected the hit of a cue, and not in a positive way.
You don't see inlays in hockey sticks...I get that its an art...but it doesn't do anything for the physics of the stick...might even hinder it who knows. Anyway, are you looking for a piece of art or a piece of sporting equipment to play with?
After reading over this old post I thought I’d put in my 2 cents. While reading the conversation I found it interesting how it seemed like each “side” looks down on the other like there is something wrong with a simple cue or an inlayed cue. People are unique and like different things. Doesn’t make one more right than the other. Ego was brought up, but I don’t see most players with inlayed cues having them just to say “I’m better than you”. I think most simply have pride in the cue the want to own and use. A player can have just as much pride in a plain Jane or Merry Widow. It’s just personal preference that’s all. Personally I love the craftsmanship and look of an inlayed or spliced cue. I know I’m not better with it, but I feel better with it. A couple of guys I play with don’t always bring their cue and play just as good with the crappy house cues. Maybe a little less well, but not enough to matter. If a player enjoys playing the game who cares what they play with.
I used to have this. $10.00 and it held my lamp and drink.

Why would someone pay more for this.

Now I have something that looks nicer in my opinion and makes me feel better about my house. Still just holds a drink and light (plus my Alexa now).
Some people love the game and some love the game and the stuff.
