what's the weight on your cue?

I'm interested to know what weight most people feel most comfortable with.

What weight do you consider "heavy"?

Does balance make a difference in how heavy the cue feels, can balance make a 21 oz cue feel more like a 19oz?

Yes and Yes ...

Balance, most assurdedly, affects how heavy a cue feels. I have felt 19's that felt like a 21, and vica versa. I prefer a heavier cue, always have, and shot with a 21 over 30 years until I got my first custom, then I went with 20.2 oz. with forward balancing (19" centerpoint), 12.75 mm Layered Hercules tip.

My break/jump cue is 19.5 oz with 14 mm phenolic tip

I play with a 19.5 oz which was given to me. I like it and shoot OK with it, but I personally prefer the control I can get with a lighter cue in the 17.5 - 18 oz range.

If I ever get the time, I am going to take the weight bolt out, see how light it is and try it that way.

Ideal weight? 18.5 to 18.75 oz. I think 19.25 is my cut-off. Anything else feels too heavy for me. But a cue this light should be balanced about an inch and a half to two inches above the wrap in my opinion.

my schon is about 18.3, anything 19 or higher feels too heavy to me, of course the balance matters too, as someone said sometimes youll run across a really well balanced cue thats heavier than it feels.

I can't speak to the tenths of an ounce like the others here. My P2 is advertised as 19oz and that feels awfully comfy to me. Of course, I'm not sure what the tolerance is where they still call that "19oz". I've played with 20's before and those feel ok to me too, but 21's have always felt too heavy to me.

Balance definitely makes a difference in my game. I feel incredibly uncomfortable playing with a cue that's too butt-heavy. That said, I've never empirically measured this. Just a feel thing for me.

My favorite playing cues are in the 18.7 to 19.5 oz. range. However I have a couple of cues that are over 20 oz. that don't feel "heavy". I think that if the cue is well made and forward balanced it'll play fine. For me the taper, tip, and tip diameter are also important.

My playing cue is 19.6 and I would prefer it to be slightly lighter but I have gotten used to it. The weight is very well distributed. Most people that pick it up feel its lighter than the 19.6.

My break cue is 18.3 Its weight is just fine to me.

My current playing cue is about 18.8, which is a little lighter than I like but I'm used to it by now. Ideally I'd like a front-weighted 19.2 or so (or a natural balance 19) and I hate hate hate weight bolts.

I recently weighed and measured the balance point on my shooter.

I shoot with a 19.46 oz. custom cue that is 60" long... and with a balance point that is 18.5" from the end of the butt. Originally the balance point was 19.25" as measured by my cuemaker... but wear and tear on the 314 shaft has moved the balance point back .75"... I guess.

I've got three more custom cues on order, all 60", and I've told the cuemakers to target for 19.0 oz.

Anything between 19.0 and 19.5 oz. works for me.

I shoot with an 18.1 oz. Anything over 19oz feels too heavy for me. I break with something a little heavier, 18.6oz.

Right around 19.5. Its funny though, back in the mid 80s heavy cues were the thing. I used to have a custom Joss that Danny made for me that was around 23-23.5. Played heavy cues for years, but the older I get its getting lighter and lighter.

I've been playing with a 17.5 oz Lebow for about 6 months and love it. I also have an 18.5 Schon that feels pretty good too. Guess I just like a lighter cue.

My playing cue is just over 22 oz., with no weight bolt. It balances out nice and doesn't feel that heavey. Hits nice and solid. Anything under 20 just feels like I have to do too much of the work to do what I want.
Most people that have shot with my cue can tell that it is heavey, but can't tell that it is 22 oz.

For 8 ball I like a 20 oz.
For 1 hole I like between 19 & 19.5. Ideally about 19.2.
Anybody else shoot with different weights for different games?
