Yep, I definitely forgot about Superstar. He is a jam-up player.

It would be impossible for me to list a top ten - one thing I know is that I wouldn't be anywhere near it if we were to have a series of tournaments and all the good players played.
John - will take the seven from all the top ten non-pros on AZB)

I will be having fun in Vegas without you, with all my Australian friends....![]()

Although it is specific to one hall, Jude's post on the Amsterdam Billiards pecking order had me thinking. So I thought I'd have a go at that also (excluding pros) to get an idea of how strong it is. Here is my top 10 order (from what I've seen) of the regulars although I'm sure Jude and SJM can do a more accurate list as I've only been a regular for about a year.
Steve Lipsky
Jonathon Smith
Jimmy Gottier
Mhet Vergara
SJM
Jesse Rice
Jude Rosenstock
Jennifer Barretta
Jason Kane
Mike Yednak
All are supremely talented players and I hope to be able to break into it sometime next year.
Jude Rosenstock said:Aside from the fact that I do not agree with your order or whom you choose to define as regulars, it is your opinion though I think you may lack some intimate knowledge. However, I seriously object to including Jennifer Barretta on this list. She is, by definition, a professional pool player. She made more pool-related money last year than everyone else on that list COMBINED and I think her accomplishments in the WPBA are well known at this point.

Me <---- still hoping to move to NY sooooon!
SUPERSTAR said:First let me say that i am extremely flattered for times that i was mentioned on someones list.
It is nice to know that i was held in the same regard as some of my esteemed AZ colleagues, and that some people think highly of my game.
(i would have to disagree with it, considering my current state in pool, but it is still very flattering)
Even MORE flattering is that i, for the most part, remain anonymous, and still managed to make some lists without people knowing who i am.
So THAT in itself is a really nice compliment.
Thank you all.
And for the people who DO know who i am, and posted a response, an even bigger thanks.
As for the list...
I will have to ponder over this for a while before i post up a list, because honestly, i hadn't ever really thought about it before.
But i DO have a question for the N.Y. players who posted responses, but this can apply to all people who read this thread.
Are we making a distinction as to what game these guys are playing?
Personally, i have always divided N.Y. into 3 types of players.
Straight pool players, and 9-ball players, and obviously there are those who are extremely talented at both.
My question to you guys is, are you dividing up your fellow players according to any particular game, or are you basing your picks on overall talent.
Just wondering , and i don't mean to make things more complicated, but i know in my area, you have guys that play great One Pocket, who stink at 9 ball, and guys who play great 9 ball, who stink at straight pool, and guys who play great straight pool who don't really excel in the other two disciplines.
And there are just a FEW, who play ALL games well, and most of them, come from a different era than the current players.
Example. If we were to talk about straight pool in N.Y., i would have to throw Danny Barouty's name in there near the top of a list, but i would understand if someone didn't think his 9 ball game was that great, because i have always known Danny to Dislike 9 ball and not really respect it as a game, so i can see him not really putting his heart into it, like he would straight pool.
Know what i mean?
I was just wondering.

Some are more open on their accomplishments and some refuse to give out any information. But, without mentioning any names, I think those who should be in the top 10 here, know it themselves (except a few humble players).
A major AzB get-together would be very interesting!
