This thead is kinda funny. While I'm sure that many of the players mentioned thus far are very good (I know about 6 of them), there are 10 others that I know that are not mentioned that post here regularly that could probably spot them the 8. In fact, it is my opinion that it is the players that don't go about "thumping their chests" that probably play lights out.

On another note, for Wayne....why do you feel the need to challenge everybody? Do you really feel that you need the approval of this forum? I'm sure that you are a great player, why not let your cue do the talking? If it makes you happy, I nominate you as number 1 on the AZ list.

Is someone thumping their chest? No one is allowed to say themselves, so all people have done is say other people. Can you name any of the 10 players that can give everyone here the 8 and who aren't pro's? You just might get some action stirred up.

No, I'm not going to name the 10 players, it's not my place. If they choose to issue a challenge that is their business. Furthermore, ego stroking aside, I'm not sure they want to be "known".

If you read my post again, it was meant to indicate that I know 10 players that post here regularly that could probably give the 8 to six of the players (that I know of) that have been bandied about as being the 10 best AZer's. I'm sure all of the players that have been mentioned thus far a very good. I also think that it would be foolish to think that there are not superb players that are "flying under the radar" that post here.

If you have any doubt, go look at the list of hundreds of members and do the math....

Excellent point and was one of the reasons for the thread. I'm sure a players "perceived" ability is closely related to the number of posts he/she makes. I sit at a PC in a pretty boring job so I post alot! :D ;)

Well of course I wouldn't have posted anything if I thought it was the remotest bit insulting to anyone. I'm sorry if you interpreted my best intentions which were to highlight the standard at ABC, and learn about players I didn't know about. It's another American idiom for me to learn. Amongst our pool circle we freely discuss lists like this over a few beers and even have our own ranking list.

I remember when I first moved to the USA, people were very hush-hush about salaries (even HR told us to strictly keep it secret). At my company in the UK, it was the opposite. People discussed salaries to make sure it was all fair. Our CEO even used to publish salaries for each band in the company at his annual presentation.

Anyway, when in Rome, do as the Romans do, so I will shut up now.

I've learned a lot from those folks. Not only from the UPPER side, but also from the LOWER side.

Personally, I relate learning pool the same way I'm learning life. Aspire to be the best, while learning what not to do from the worst.

I mean no disrepect to anyone on my list, becuase all of you have your "+" and "-" of your character at the table. It's just very cool how you all carry yourself while at the table, is what I find fascinating.

I have kind of a dumb question here..

How does anyone know how anyone plays just from posts on the internet? I'm assuming some people have met up on here and matched up.. I can see some videos being posted in the past that would give some idea (maybe..).

I know guys like Louie Ulrich have a pretty hardcore reputation out here in Cali.. and while I'm sure he plays like god.. I've never heard of/seen/or would be able to rank for example.. (from posts on the internet anyways?) "TheOne.?"

Just curious as to how a list like this could be even remotely accurate? Unless that many people have matched up on here? and or everyone on that list has a reputation that preceeds them both on and off the internet?

Hell I've been on here for just a short while, and even posted vids.. But that doesn't mean you know how I play or don't? Just means you saw some vids on the internet. (Incidentally it is about how I play, just throwing that out there becuase ya never know with some people).
