Just another topic for fun.
My favourite drill is a variation of playing the ghost. It's like this:
You start from 2 balls and keep adding 1 until you beat 10.
Place all balls randomly on the table and pot them all in numeric order.
You have to do this without a mistake and 3 times in a row on different layouts. Then you can advance to the next level of balls.

I think this is a pretty fun drill. Let's face it, a lot of drills can be boring practicing hehe... This one is a bit different cause it's more like playing a game of 9 ball. Well, what's your fave?

My favorite rotation drill for rotation was Missisippi 9-ball. You can look the rules up on google. Johnnyt

A few months ago I saw someone post here on AZ that they like this game Fargo. I never heard of Fargo so I looked up the rules and also found a score sheet and I LOVE THAT GAME. It's a great drill for regular shot making then when your ready to switch to rotation it's awesome for position play and I need tons of help with my position play. The way the points system works keeps excellent track of your progress .

My favorite is Mother Drills # 1-2-3. These drills focus on my stroke.

mine is the 0x kicking drill I downloaded a few days lot of good info on two and three rail kicks

Not sure it is a drill or a warm up.

Distribute all 15 balls near center of table, some spaced, some clustered.

BIH: attempt to pocket all without going to a rail. For me helps see dot to dot, stop to stop, patterns and close shape and bumps and controlled 2-way breakouts.

I complete the exercise, even when I miss, by resetting the miss. I have trouble with this, but I like it. I get through it maybe 1/4, 1/3 of the time.

Then I shoot progressively longer straight- ins along the diagonal corner to corner path. Start with stop shot. Then draw. Then follow. At this point, I have missed so many, that I decide not to enter tournament and go home. :(

.... lately I have been hitting a draw drill. (I'm not playing much recently and finding speed control is a big problem.):

About a ball width off the long side rail, straight in, OB at diamond closest to pocket/cb at 3rd diamond. Place some other balls even with diamonds, about 1 diamond in, as target distances. Try to draw back to those marked distances progressively. This kicks my butt.

my favorite thing to drill in pool are people. :D

I do a lot of rail drils . Line of balls on the rail and shoot them to shape on the next shot ... Very hard to do but the shot come up at lot in 1pocket and 9 ball...

If I play on bar boxes, I work on my 9-ball game. The 6 left over either go for 2 games of 3-ball best I've done was 3 shots; or put the remaining 6, one in each pocket jaw and try to make as many as I can with as little shots possible. Best I've done so far was 4 shots.

I like the pro Book Sweet 16, i like high confidence reference training with target practice.

Stan Shuffett recommended a drill for me to improve the straightness of my stroke. Stevie Moore uses it as well. Whenever I play I do this first to warm up if I have enough time.

Place all 15 balls straight across between the two side pockets, evenly spaced. 15 balls will fit with about 3/4" in between them. Taking the cue ball in hand in the kitchen on each shot, shoot each ball dead straight into the corner pocket stopping the cue ball with as little movement as possible. Incorporate your best fundamentals and stay down until the object ball disappears into the pocket.

This drill will help you to work on a repeatable straight stroke. When you can make all 15 balls and basically stop the cue ball dead you are stroking very well. Stevie did this in his warm up period on TAR. I believe he was playing Chris Bartram. If it's good enough for Stevie it's good enough for all of us !

I really like Joe Tuckers "rail workout" (which includes the "Karen Corr" drill)
