Lesh, pretty sure you meant $5/day for regular stiffs like me, not per hour.

Wow, you guys sure pay a lot. Both pool rooms in Rochester. Walk in at Noon, pay the counter person $10, play till Midnight. Sundays East Ridge Billiards is $5 all day!!!! Great for the players. How does the owner make enough money to pay the rent?

I can't get over how cheap pool is in the states.

Depends on where in the states.

In Manhattan NYC, deals are hard to come by at the best pool halls because rent is so high.

Hardcore pool players are generally money losses for Manhattan pool halls since they charge per person per hour and sell drinks to casual social players who usually come in groups.

The only deals are league players get free pool on shared tables Fri/Sat from 6-9 pm and $45 for a table from 9PM till closing. The $45 till closing works out for 2 or more players on the table if you plan on playing for more than a few hours.

There are cheaper options in Manhattan, but if you want to play on quality tables and balls, this is it.

The pool hall in our little city has several deals:

- Free pool with lunch purchase, Noon-3pm everyday.
- Sunday afternoon 8-ball tourney: if you play in the tourney you can play beforehand for free.
- Monday evening BCA league: if you play in the league you can play beforehand for free.
- Tuesdays ladies play free 6-9pm.
- Wednesday evening 9-ball tourney: if you play in the tourney you can play beforehand for free.
- Thursdays everyone plays free 6-9pm.

Memberships available: $100/month, $275/quarter, $500/6 months, or $900/year. Unlimited play.

Regular price is $4.75/hr per person.

Knoxville Billiard Club has 5.00 till 4:00 Mon, Wed, and Fri.(flat rate, play all day for 5.00).

Cost of living in general differs more by location in the US than it does in the UK. NY and London are big exceptions though as prices are through the roof. 10 GBP from 12-6pm seems a pretty good deal - less than 2 quid an hour. The others (6 GBP an hour for English pool, 7.50 for American Pool and 8.50 for snooker seem a little steep but they don't surprise me. However, anyone with a supreme raw talent for snooker will be freerolling if the owner/management of their local club has half a brain.

Side Pockets. Paducah,Ky. 3.50 per hour. Regulars can buy a card for 20.00 that gives you 27.00 worth of time. Free pool for league players on league nights even on the 9fters

At my home room it's $5 for two hours of pool with a one drink minimum 5-7pm Mon-Fri, and 3 hours of free pool for every 10 hours at the regular rates (with a punch card).

Chris's Billiards, also in Chicago, has the best deal I know of around here: $10 flat 9am-5pm Mon-Fri. That's $1.25 an hour.

What's your home room's "deal"? What's the best one you know of?

As I read thru the comments on this thread and I noticed that the majority of pool rooms has pool on the backburner. They are focus on generating revenue on other items such as food, alcohol etc. Maybe this is also the reason why pool is no longer mainstream because even pool halls don't have "pool" as their focus to generate revenue. The biggest problem with the sport of pool is that it is on the backburner even for businesses like pool halls. I do not see bowling alleys or golf courses offering the same discounts if you buy food or drinks.
