What's your TAR ranking list look like?

For those that don't watch the TAR podcasts, they have recently talked about releasing a ranking list. Without knowing what criteria they are going to use, it might be tough to make predictions. But, it might still be fun to tell each other why our lists are wrong.

Assume this is 10 ball on the TAR 9 foot. So here's mine, with some justifications included.

#1 Francisco Bustamante - To use a boxing term. The guy who beat the guy who beat the guy. In my mind, the lineal #1 guy. And is until someone beats him on the TAR table and format.

#2 SVB - #1 contender. No brainer in my mind.

#3 Dennis Orcollo - This is where it get's tricky. How do you rank a guy who has A) Never played on Tar. B) May never play on Tar. Should the list be only for guys who are in the Tar universe or is the whole world invited? I believe the latter, but I would listen to arguments about the former.

#4 Alex

#5 Dennis Hatch - Might be ranked too high, maybe not. Personally think he`s going to shock some people and dismantle Dechaine.

#6 Johnny Archer - At least for a few more weeks. He`s either going way up or maybe even right off the list depending on results of TAR 27.

#7 Mika, Daz, Ralf, Hohmann and every other European - Don`t have a great track record in TAR events. As more matches are played the list will spread out and their spots will be clearer.

#8 Mike Dechaine - I`m debating where Mike goes. In a race to 9 I don`t like him versus anyone listed at 7. In a TAR match I`m not sure I like any of them against him.

#9 Yang and Wu - They`ll both probably never play on TAR in the near future, so I did not want to waste two spots on them.

10 John Morra - I`m Canadian and biased, shoot me.

Take the top five Filipinos add the top ten Taiwanese/ Chinese/ Japanese. Pour in Souquet, Appleton, Immonen, Melling. Garnish with SVB. Stir in blender. Pour out top half. Granted each mix will likely give you different results.

The reality is, aside from SVB, most of these guys are just not available enough for regular matches. A list of just top Americans, and more like twenty, would give a more manageable challenge circuit. This is basically how champions were determined until the 40s or so.

Determine an American champion to keep TAR going and then from time to time when their schedules allow the big dogs can take a bite out of them.

A female bracket in tandem would be a nice addition to the competition.

It doesn't pay in the PPV doubt it will happen.

Corey Deuel belongs in the conversation. I think that outside of Shane, he plays ten ball about as well as any American pro.

1. SVB
2. Alex
3. Busty
4. Rosie Odonnel covered in ticks
5. Dechaine
6. Mika
7. Goat on the side of a cliff.
8. Hatch

Here is how I would start the TAR rankings.

1. Busty
2. Winner of SVB vs Archer
3. Winner of Dechaine vs Hatch
4. The lion
5. Loser of archer/svb
6. Loser of Dechaine/Hatch
7. Stevie moore
8. Donny mills.
9. Darren Appleton
10. John schmidt

Wild card Bartrum.
Wild card Scott Frost.
I think you should have to have played in a TAR match to get in the rankings.

Corey Deuel, Mika, Orcullo, and Rodney Morris have played on TAR. The last two were on a Vegas stream - Orcullo beat Bartram.

I would think at least some of those would crack the top ten.

As far as tar matches goes, they are only a part of the equation. There is no set ranking system. It's tars money. They decide.Dumb, greedy people like DH are out as well. I have no input, but JC and MG make the rules and put up the money. It is driven by their objectives tempered only by public demand.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
