WHATTA MATCH ! !

It was pretty surprising to see an unheralded player beat Mike Dechaine like that. They both fell apart a little at the end of the first set but overall Joey out played Mike in both sets. Mike's break really kept him from any chance of winning.

Yea Mike's break was his downfall the entire weekend though.... He had some really good breaks but couldn't control whitey consistently.

Yes, Joey Dupuis has worked himself into the #2 position as top dog pool player in the USA. He soundly beat Dechaine twice. Yet his followers say only SVB can beat him.
Mike didn't lose because his break wasn't working. He lost because Joey didn't miss as much as he did.

Ditto. Great free stream. Always pulling for the underdog anyway. Anybody can beat anybody. Mike took it well, and actually got off to great start (2-0) in second set. That's a big feather in Joeys hat! Great commentary also. Spent my whole evening watching lots of great matches.

Earl loses a set on that table.... That he's not familiar with and people declare Dechaine the better player. I guess Joey is just King Kong know since he double dipped Mike on his home turf.. Ridiculous

I agree with your last sentence but the rest is off the mark, imo.

If Joey played Mike 100 sets, Joey wins maybe 10 - 15 of them tops.

One tourney does not cause someone shoot up and dethrone the man who is very likely #2 in the usa (arguably, I know). ;)

It is funny how people think
I'll play Joey I'll find out the hard way how good he plays

joey just played better/with some karma

Joey won that match by (double dipping Mike twice) because he played with more heart, more composure, more sportsmanship and more urgency than Mike. It was a great match, and part of the greatness was watching karma come around and bite Mike on the break.

Mike was all over Joey about the racks, rudely being over his shoulder while Joey was racking (which Mike did thru-out the tourney to other players as well). Mike strutted as he was the king of the room, which seems to be his style-and his supporters. The last rack, after 4 minutes of re-racking on Mike's part (since he couldn't give the same rack he expected of his opponents) Joey came out, broke and ran to win the tourney. The chat room exploded with support for Joey along with the room itself.

I'm not saying Joey is the better player-Mike has earned his (supposed) position as the second best player in the country. But Mike DESERVED to lose this tourney due to his attitude, his lack of respect for his opponent's ability to play, and his un-controlled break, and his overall lack of sportsmanship in this match-up. Obviously Mike Dechaine takes after the (sic) champ he dethroned Earl Strickland.

The 670 viewers that watched this match on stream, if polled, will probably agree-Mike got we he deserved from karma. And that Joey BEAT Mike (twice 9-4 and 9-6 respectively) and earned the title (not to mention the good players he beat to get there.)
