When do you adjust?

It's not usually about the number of sets. It's about the amount of money won and lost. I would say in my gambling days a $1000 might be a good figure to start negotiating.

if you're losing adjust as soon as possible.

If you're winning, try to avoid adjusting.

as simple as that!

if you're losing adjust as soon as possible.

If you're winning, try to avoid adjusting.

Good post! Adjust when it is to your benefit. ASAP if you are losing, stall as long as you can without the other player quitting if you are winning. Oddly enough, the reason for wagering or gambling is that you seek to have more money when you finish than when you started.

how many sets do you win/lose before you consider adjusting?

I really think its on how you won your sets. Race to 5 you win three in a row
5.2 5.3 5.3 you might want to adjust. You win three in a row 5,4 5,4 5,3 not adjusting yet in less you really want to play and the guy your playing going to quite unless you adjust.

on the edge

negotiating weight in pool is NOT about making a game fair or even. It is about trying to get an edge on the other player. When you feel that you do not have the edge you thought you had when you started, you had better adjust to a better game or pull up.:help:

No Adjusting...........

I usually make a game and play. If the other person is losing, they can quit whenever they want. If I'm losing, then I can quit.
If and when we match up again, the game could be different.
I have seen way to many times when adjustments are made and at the end of the day, the winner is the HOUSE. If I'm gambling, I either want to win or it's not gambling. If you want to adjust to the point of breaking even, why not just play for funzies?
Just my .02:smile:

You adjust if it's a heist one way or another. If it's still tough, I wouldn't adjust. If it's too easy and you feel like not adjusting is costing you money, than you should definitely adjust. If you wait too long to adjust your opponent might not play with you anymore. If you do it too soon, you might end up losing.
