I remember watching pool on Wide World of Sports sometimes when I was a kid. Then when I was a teenager I would tape matches off of ESPN, it seemed like they only played them in the middle of the night.

Quick observation: buckets and slug cloth. Runout pool with super strokes are exactly what the crowd wants to see. As opposed to Busty and Shane ducking half the rack.

That crowd was pumped after Earl won.....I mean pumped up.

You just don't see that kind of excitement anymore in the crowd.

After Earl won and everyone came out to meet him, you see some good video of Dave Piona shaking his hand and congratulating him.

Dave passed away around 6-7 years ago, was a fixture in the NorCal rooms and an excellent player as well.

Brought back some good memories of when I just started shooting pool, thanks for posting.

Referred to as "tan" or "camel" if I remember right. The room I started playing at in 1973 had half the tables with that crap.
