There,.... that's better! I sukkk at doing polls here.
Just curious as to what AZ'ers use.

Or rail first which sucks too. Being that flat is never a good thing. Depending on the size/profile of the pocket determines how to hit it- if there is anything to work with.

Outside and some draw. Go 90 degree from 8 down to the bottom rail. Chance of bouncing 8 out of corner though depending on the corners.

It all depends how I'm playing the day this scenario is presented and if I'm more comfortable that day drawing or following. Both are viable options.

I had an instance where the CB & 8-ball were dead even - so no angle. It is a tough shot.
You must like my avatar. I do too! (Who wouldn't like a chic in a felt green thong?)

Depends too on the dimensions and if/how the shot is biased ie. towards the side or bottom rail. Nothing else withstanding, follow.

My thoughts exactly. Either way, this is usually a game deciding shot, so controlling your thoughts and emotions about the shot become equally as important. Lots of amateurs want to "load up" on the draw shot here, fueled by an emotional response to the position, level of difficulty and importance of a game ending situation.

The pro response is more to the tune of assessing your own strength on the options, the risks posed by the options, and then a firm decision is made; followed by a smooth, well timed, unrushed , confident stroke in either direction.

Shots like this separate the closers from the also rans, men from the boys , if you will.

I tried both draw and follow last night. I could draw down table regularly, with the pocket sometimes spitting the ball out.

I couldn't find a follow shot that would work. Cb would come off the rail too narrow. Anyone have an example of the follow shot ?

Set up the shot with Cb and ob about 1/2 inch off the rail. At first and third diamond for consistency.

I voted draw but would probably just bank the 9 since it’s right at the middle Diamond….for that I would follow first. Hill/hill draw. I’m not that good👍

Over 90% by my reckoning.
I'm nowhere near PRO, my percentage is about 40% follow, 30% draw. Follow,(for me) tends to rattle the 8 which means my aim is not perfect. When I draw, I di juice it a bit much that often makes it head toward the lower left corner for a scratch. I did see 1 player bounce it ever so soft on the bottom short rail at 1st diamond for that sweet "slight angle" shot . Sweet! (y)
