I was thinking about the next shot instead of the most important one, the one you are shooting.---Smitty

im not focused and concentrating

Same here...

If I miss it is usually due to my lack of focus or not going through my pre shot routine. Getting sloppy has cost me many of games over the years

If I'm playing my best, this will occasionally be the shot that will kick my butt, too.

I have a wrist injury that is about 15 years old. If my hand is numb, I'm sometimes lucky if I even manage to hit the cue ball.

Nobody's perfect. Sometimes the body just doesn't do what the mind wants it to. That's what differentiates us from the Michael Jordans, Tiger Woods's, and John Schmidts, you could even say Fred Astairs. You can only do so much with what you are given. And to realise this is a hard fact of life. Everybody has different levels of eye-hand coordination, dexterity, and athletic ability. Anyhow, that's my take.

I miss most often from lack of concentration on the object ball. However some one pocket shots require pretty intense concentration on where and how the cue is stroked. So I miss them also... Guess I just miss lots of shots, just ask Little Bubba...:D

Lack of focus is what affects my aim, making me hit the wrong point on the object ball.

All of us who play seriously know that in order to make the shot you must precisely strike the contact point. A split second's lack of focus is all it takes to dog it.

I think most shots are blown this way.

Recently I had the pleasure of working with Scott Lee to improve my game.

I am using the SPFF techniques and have adapted my mechanics as per Scott's advice. I am very happy with the results. With the SPF I find it easier to focus on the task at hand.

Come on...I've never missed a ball. NEVER. :D :D :D And if you believe that...

If I ever did miss a ball, though, it would almost certainly be because the other guy's (or girl's) gremlins were sharking me. Certainly.

All kidding aside, I really think it's a lack of talent and focus for me.

I Don't Know Why

I wish I did know why. I suspect it is because of many why(s). There are just so many- can't see-can't deal with the pressure-can't finish-wrong decisions that compound themselves- get further and further out of line and run out of miracle shots - shoot when I should duck- duck(poorly) when I should 'go' for it-------and on and on and on.

I practice well. Sometimes I shoot good- but generally I PLAY BAD.

I'm sorry you brought this subject up- making me think about it bums me out.

Thanks

Not staying true to my line. I'll decide "this is how to hit it", get down, and then change my mind... "no, i'll be hitting it too full" and then I end up cutting it a bit too thin.
Sometimes my line doesn't feel right when I'm down on the shot... when I learn to ignore that feeling and just trust that I am right is when I play better.
