Where’s all the newbies(new to AZB)?

Hello. I see you all likin’ stuff. Loose grip or firm? And everyone else we need some WWYD’s. It’s been a while….for once I got nothing

Forums are archaic in comparison to platforms like reddit etc, and more time consuming than watching a video of an influencer.
Just as myspace is to whatever social media people use now.
Just as Youtube is to TikTok.

I primarily started to use this because when I would type in questions on Bing, some results from here would get thrown up and I could easily access it. I can't be assed to log-on to VPN at work and use other platforms.

When people want to know things, they just see what their favorite influencer has to say about it, it's safer for them to blindly follow and regurgitate what they learn back to their friends with some sense of inflated ego, than it is to have their intelligence challenged by strangers in an open forum. That, and it involves a lot less brain power to watch someone explain something in a short video than it does to spend a minute reading a post.

Here is a good time killer for me, and has interesting thoughts and stories appear from time to time.

Loose grip or firm?
Holding an egg. There's some tactile element to it when playing shots involving spin, where 'squeeze' comes into play. When playing snooker, I rested the cue on middle and ring finger primarily, and I would almost point my index finger. When playing pool, I assume because of the differing butt shape, it has always rested in a more forward part of my hand between the index finger and thumb. I feel this generates a lot more action through my wrist when drawing the ball.

only time I loosen up is on a dead straight shot. The problem is it’s programmed into my system so thoroughly that if I loose grip a non dead straight shot, I’ll hit it dead straight automatically. Sounds crazy but it’s true. if dead straight takes it to the nipple it’ll hit the nipple.

I try to aim for consistency. Naturally, timing and squeeze are 'feel' and relating to the shot in front of me.

Does anyone sell a lubricant to apply to my carbon fiber shaft so when I stroke or grip it there is more play?

Similar to KY Jelly

I got cha.

  • Extreme pressure performance for protection against shock loading
  • Excellent resistance to water wash out
  • Good pumpability

What more could you ask for?

What is the wear and tear on the residue? Grease travels, what can you say about isolating its movement?

I have to play a straight pool match, that is a lot of table touching

Would the rule boys ban it? I want to see performance testing for cloth absorption.

Can someone explain how this relates to pool and the reason why everyone talks about the dirt or getting the table faster?

I thought there was a Mechanical PHD here? As a mathematician specialist from NYC, it is not in my research area.

I am unfamiliar with systems that requires a variety of lubricants. However I do know pool and how tolerances can change with silicone.

What if you don't like any of them?

Younger people are using reddit and discord. Most shy away from AZB because historically it's viewed as a bunch of grumpy old men.
I would say it is confirmed to be a bunch of grumpy old men. Not just viewed as.

Still the best place for pool advice and resources. I learned more billiards history here than anywhere else.
