If you say this to a person in Taiwan, they may be offended, but for sure they will think you are a really dumb American. If you are really interested in the Taiwanese players, I can lead you on social media run to post on their accounts.
Are you more interested in the Taiwanese players from Taiwan or the Taiwanese players from the mainland?
Consider me as a tour guide for their social media accounts. Would you like to pursue an excursion?

The way your statement read to me is that you are calling Taiwan one with China. Taiwan is an independent country, and if you go to Taiwan and tell all the Taiwanese they are part of China, then they will laugh at you. If you didn't mean it that way, then I retract my response. No I grew up in America dealing with this forever
I am Filipino in America. My family is Filipino from Philippines.
Are you Asian? I don't know if you can understand this issue if you are not Asian.
There are Taiwanese people that grew up outside of Taiwan.
People don't look at me and ask which part of America I am from.

I agree. The winner however will be a player who is capable of beating any of the missing players in any set. You're kidding, right?
I'm sure all the top players of Asia were invited, but most of Asia is in a lockdown with confining travel restrictions, so nearly all these invitations would have been turned down. It's not just Taiwan. Chinese players Wu Jiaqing, Liu Haitao, and Xiahuai Zheng are all missing from the field, and so are Filipinos Raga, Orcullo, Biado, Corteza, Biado and Aranas. All eight of them, based on Fargo, are among the twenty best players in the world.
Yes, this is the weakest field we've seen at the World Championship since the 1980s, but you should revel in the fact that Matchroom managed to stage the event at all given the times.
Yes, a case can be made that the title is a bit devalued because so many top players are absent, but the best any participant can accomplish in this or any other event event is to beat all comers. Since when is a world championship in any sport renamed because many of the top players fail to show up?
Some of the Filipino are in the USA, I saw that at least Orcullo and Aranas participated in the US Open One Pocket. Orcullo was runner-up, I believe....and so are Filipinos Raga, Orcullo, Biado, Corteza, Biado and Aranas. All eight of them, based on Fargo, are among the twenty best players in the world.
Already there. Dennis, for example, has been in frequent action in the US for the length of the pandemic. Some of the Filipino are in the USA, I saw that at least Orcullo and Aranas participated in the US Open One Pocket. Orcullo was runner-up, I believe.
So are they allowed to travel to USA? Or were they already there?
Taiwan is very 'Ko-dependent'.To us die hards we know the field is weakened. But I'd imagine every sporting event going on right now would be. Question though that I think is more relevant: This is the first time in many years MR has hosted the WPC. Did the "square public" or the "bar room pool player" have more viewing time and/or awareness of the WPC than prior years? That's really all that matters IMO, if they were given a good show and drawn in for more. They don't even know any names of the Taiwanese players.
Biado is here in SoCal. Wonder why he didn't play?Already there. Dennis, for example, has been in frequent action in the US for the length of the pandemic.
Yeah, unlike those who are stuck in Asia, both Carlo and Dennis had the chance, but sadly declined. Obviously, I have no idea nor is it any of my business whether they've been vaccinated.Biado is here in SoCal. Wonder why he didn't play?
