I'm working on a video on demand solution now. First match should be up early next week. It will be TAR 29. SVB vs Orcollo. More will follow about once a week. TAR 32 is next week so a lot going on the next week or so.
Ill put all info up when its ready to go.
That's maybe what you should do the subscription thing to (like FatBoy suggested a few years back?). Once you get them all up, maybe you could sell access for a limited amount of time or something, like they do on the porn sites (or so I've heard).

That's great news! I know you were struggling for some time to find the right person/company to make this happen. I hope it's working well for you, since everyone and their grandma claim they can spin the web perfectly.
I've been looking on and off for years for a subscription based vod model that makes sense. The reason the porn model will not work for our matches are 12-20 hours in length, the storage and bandwidth cost compared to the minuscule market make it very hard to come out actually making financial sense to do it. The last quote I got for the job actually had the provider making more than we did on a sliding scale.
I am going to start with ala carte style options. If people are interested and actually buy it then ill keep looking.

I would never consider bandwidth costs. That's very interesting. Too bad the porn model doesn't work, having a slew of porn models around your studio might be just what pool needs.

It would be great to have DVDs of some tar matches. Is it possible to open the TAR store to sell them for 1 or 2 weeks a year. This could become an yearly event and may generate some coin for tar.
The limited time frame could reduce hassle to coin ratio, End of the two weeks refund whats hanging & see ya next year.

Could we pay for a digital download or will it always be a "stream" rental? Just curious. Either way I'm excited.

I believe they outsource the manufacturing. Typically this means that the cost per piece is significantly reduced based on the volume you order. For pool DVDs, the market is not big enough to warrant an order big enough to make it worth their while. I would guess making a big enough order means Justin is going to sit on a large amount of product waiting.
You nailed it. Add in the fact that our matches are from 12 to 20 hours in length. If all I had to do was make a single disc for each match and pay $2 each for them it would be one thing. That is not the case.
There is also the phenomenon I am very experienced with where lots of people online say "I want a dvd, I will pay for it." then when all the time and money are spent they somehow are nowhere to be found. Digital delivery is where its at. Then if someone wants a physical copy for themselves they are free to do that.
Depends on how they sell. If the matches sell I will spend the time to convert and upload more of them. If thirty people buy the matches and they all wind up on YouTube in a week then I will have the best collection of unreleased pool matches in the world.

How easy/difficult is it to get your materials removed from Youtube? CNN UFC etc are able to get the stuff removed. I assume what makes it so easy for them is their size?
It's not easy to make a stream into a DVD, requires recording it which is not the simplest thing to do. Or are you going to offer downloads of the files in some digital format for purchase like with an FTP download password or something?
For streaming to be worth purchasing, at least for those that already have seen the original match, it would have to be at an almost throw away price, like $5 or $10 a match. Since we all already know the outcome of the games. Plus we have all seen those players play over and over so just to watch them, at least for me, would not be worth paying the cost of a DVD for a stream.

Anyone know how accu stats offers such a vast catalog. I would think they burn them in house but maybe they do it another way. With the huge catologe it must be small batches.
Oh well, I really wanted to get some of the races to 100 . I have the Color of Money Hong Kong match and the Earl - Shane 10 ft table match.
The races to 100 are so fun to watch. The ebb & flow duering the race and the slowly evolving ajustments made in shot selection and the endurance required really set the races to 100 apart. Would like to have more of then on the shelf.
