Where does the money come from?

Unfortunately that is what you get in a "Public" forum. You have people like Chuck Fields and Cracktherack who take it upon themselves to comment on things that they have nothing to add.
like this is their thought process "hmm, let's see, oh this looks good. I don't have anything to add but i'm going to take power of attorney on this one and make it look like the OP is asking for SS#, DOB and signed confession about people. Cause I feel that their question is stupid and they are stupid, my opinion holds more merit than any other and i'll just belittle them. Yeah that's what i'll do with my day"

Over 1,000 people have viewed this and decided that they either have nothing to add or say and kept it moving, but not them. No one is asking question about them so what exactly is the problem with asking a question, if theres no information to be had then nothing will be given and nothing will be gained so why bring your negative attitude to a topic.

What your not understanding is it's in very poor taste to ask a person how much money they make...

Now you want take it to another level wanting to discuss named pool players salary, or lack of on a public forum..

Do you not get it....It's none of your business!

No need to crucify the OP....geez

The "it's none of your business" response and the "it's in very poor taste to ask a person how much money they make" response are BS guys. The OP simply is curious how these so-called top guys in pool can survive......and frankly I'm intrigued by it too. So he ain't the IRS Einstein but you ain't the 'named' pool players legal representation either or the pool world's Ann Landers. Do you bashers really think the OP was expecting Corey or Rodney or any of 'em to come on here and type "Well last year I made $52,456.36 in tournament earnings and $5,457.21 in appearance money and $4,518.23 giving lessons.".......you bashers are conversation killers and some rude mf'ers. OP was only looking to start some conversation about how these guys like Corey, Josh Roberts, Rodney, Justin Bergman, Justin Hall, Cliff Joyner can actually survive and pay the bills and have a 'life' playing pool for a living. I think it's a good question. Lay off the OP.......and try to be a bit civil to your fellow forum members. You guys are more immature than my 13 and 17 year old kids...........attack, attack, attack...........sheesh

It has nothing to do with being rude mf'ers..

Some of us were raised differently, and know it's not appropriate
to discuss somebody's income, or how they make their income..

Huh? Sharing the thought that other's business is not the general public's is completely on topic and therefore, he 'added'.
I don't care where you get your opinion or thought from. Basically if you don't have something to add or say and are not their lawyers just don't do it, this thread is none of your business either.

Why do people on here with nothing to say always HAVE to comment that they have nothing to add, is it a need to type, an addiction.

Is it really that hard to understand that a superficially innocuous question: how do they make it on x$...? Leads to responses that are personal?

Corey builds race car motors out of the trunk of his Lexus.
Cliff enlists both Peter and Paul.
Rodney is a preacher
Shawn is a gigolo.
He bus tyoass makes chopstick art that he sells on etsy.

It's a pool forum for goodness sakes. You guys are so off base it's crazy.

Talking about how professional players can make a living is totally acceptable conversation. Actually, having conversations about how much money a "professional" player makes isn't an invasion of provacy in the least. No more so than it would be to talk about how much money an electrician makes if you happened to be on an electrician's forum.

They are professional players and with that comes a certain amount of public interest in their lives. No different than any other sport.

Again and for the last time.
No one is asking anyone to turn state witness. These guys feel that their opinion carries more than yours so it doesn't matter what anyone thinks (regardless of topic) if they feel that it's so then all must come to the same conclusion.
Like I think this is how their mind works (talking to themselves)

:What do we have here?
:Someone asking general question with examples given of the type of person he has in mind
:No no no, this doesn't feel right, what do you think conscience?
C: Well, did he ask for exact information
: No, but does it matter
C: True. Did he give up any information on anyone?
: No, but does it matter let give him hell anyway
C: Did anyone else give up information
: Why
C: Well cause he can ask all he wants but if no personal info is given so what, if he made a thread asking for SS# would you be mad at him for asking or the people that replied?
:I see but who cares anyway, if we don't do something this might actually go off without a hitch and guy could end up chatting back and for speculating on how they actually get by, we have a duty.
C: You're right, LET'S GET'EM BWAAAAAAAH HA HA HAAAAAAAH
: That's what i'm talking about........ click, click, click, click... (keyboard typing in background)

I heard ChicagoRJ is sponsoring Sam Lambert in 2020 for the 45th Annual U.S. Open, which will be ran by Barry who, (thanks to future technology) will have his body frozen in liquor to preserve life but his brain will be fully functional and can communicate via computer wavelength signals.

Jay Helfert will be doing valet parking.

The hotel/venue will be owned by none other than Charlie Williams, who will be giving every single player a 100% discount on their room, with the exception that no one is allowed to have a room key to their own room.

Racking will be done by innocent bystanders.

All audience members are required to call a foul on the players since players are not allowed to call it on themselves and referees will be too busy trying to figure out how to cut a magic rack with scissors.

Everyone will be able to watch the stream on their Apple Watch by AzBTV for the low price of $100/hour, subject to credit approval. Stream will be in low definition 480p.

If your name is Shane you get an automatic "bye" to the finals.

What a time to be alive.

I know I am but what are you.
But really, how did you come to that conclusion?
Also
shouldn't I be either one and not both young and immature? I'm only asking cause i'm a small little boy

I don't think it is OK to ask the question about specific people. And agree with you there.

That said, the question was intended to be a general one from how I read it. That question (how can a pro player make it with the small earnings from tournaments when tournament payouts are low these days) is a valid and I believe an important one to discuss. There are a lot of people on here and the answer to that question may change their outlook on pursuing a pro career.

The problem and how I feel. Possible Bipolar
It feels as though stuff like this is targeted sometimes and for whatever reason. You have individuals who come on here as ask a question and someone would just run off with negative and hateful comments. And this is from an individual who on another topic both you and them made similar comments, then out of the blue and on an almost nothing question it goes to defcon one and it's the cubian missile crisis all over again.

Take Lampert for example, rather than a fair comment you have people come out bashing the guy and calling him names, these are the same people who would also come out talking about helping pool.

Now I am sure that far more sensitive stuff have been said on here about individual who didn't even know, dealing about cue sales, cue makers etc. But it's this open question that gets the heat, all about information that is already somewhat public to begin with, keel you can see on the Az home page what someone made for the year and how much someone made in tourneys and stuff.

I not to long got home from work and am too tired to remember some of the things and the way i wanted to say it. Bottom line is that it's a shame and discouragement coming on here sometimes because of how some people feel the need to self police the forum, disvalue someone "opinion" and just plan belittle people for a different view, gesh they bash you over aiming, magic rack vs wood, rack your own, jump cues, if you gamble, it's sad to be honest.
