Where to park at Steinway

Everyone I talk to says they park at PC Richards but the only time I was ever there there was a sign that said, "Do not park at PC Richards, will be towed".

Who in their right mind drives a car in NYC?
Are you George W Bush or something?

Pahhhhhk yeh cahhhhh in Haaahhhhhvidd yahhhhhd and take a train duh Nu Yahhhhhk.

One of my bucket list items is to get a lesson from Earl. But I refuse to set a foot inside NY State for any reason for the remainder of my life. So I hope Earl moves on from there some time soon so I can hit him up. No offense to any people from that state, but your state is less than inviting. I prefer Southeast Detroit in the wee hours of the morning to NYC under any circumstances.

Hmmmmm.... sounds like a good thread idea. Billiards Bucket List.

Hope you find a way to not get a ticket in NYC.... there is no way to avoid it, but hey.... good luck in the effort. You will likely be tazed in the process of your visit for one reason or another. Wear tight underwear.

Lesh

If I remember correctly there is a PVParking lot about a block away. Nice place to park but I am not sure of the rates.

PC Richards recently told Steinway that the players cannot park there anymore or they will call the tow company. Steinway is always at max capacity these days and half of PC Richards parking lot was from Steinway.

There is metered parking in front and around the corner.

Metered parking....... if you're lucky enough to find a space after an hour or so ride to get there, #1, is not allowed to be hogged all day, (meter maids mark your tires from what I've been told) and #2, is wonderful to have plaguing your mind all day should you get into a game. I will never attempt a visit there from CT for those reasons.

On the other hand, you'd think the pool room would cut a deal with pc richards. I know I'd pay for the piece of mind parking.

One thought, I don't know what NY law is regarding handicapped parking permits. PC Richards may have to allow that parking if you have it. Dunno? Hate to find out the hard way. I suppose trespassing is trespassing though....... maybe ok for expired metered spots. Might be something to look into if it applies to anyone interested.

Rumour has it PC Richards corporate is being sued for an after hours incident in connection with the parking lot. Probably for liability reasons the lot is now closed and locked up when the store closes.

PC Richards probably had an arrangement Steinway, and other local businesses that allowed for courtesy parking. At night, I used to see people park there and then go to the theatre across the street. As a customer of Steinway, I was advised to park in the first row or avoid the lot when PC Richards is having a promotion, and expecting lots of customers.

Glad I noticed this post, I was going to take a drive with my son to play there, but after a 3+ hr drive to get there I have no interest in hunting for 30 minutes for a parking spot or paying another $20-40 for a NY parking garage.

Whaaaaaaaaaaa? It's QUEENS!!!-a highly highly highly commercialized area with 60,000 + people PER SQUARE MILE.

You are old enough to have a son and you thought you could just wing it down there and park in front no problem? You really do need to take a few trips out of your neighborhood.

parking lots are never owned by the company using it, the signs that says cars will be towed has the owners info usually, PC Richards is not liable or at fault, its the lots owner, and someone mentioned an incident happened and thats most likely the culprit. steinway is going to hurt bc of this, Steinway street is the busiest road in astoria, parking is playing the lotto on a weekend, that sucks

NYC has five boroughs, well four, staten island doesn't count:p, so driving here is not that bad outside of rush hour, its a huge city, Manhattan you dont want a car, or need one.

I do. A lot of people do.

For Steinway, sometimes you can park at PC Richards, but most of the time I park on the street and feed the meter til 7pm. But normally i'm there after 7.

Eh, I figured a business large enough to hold a ton of pool tables would have a parking lot to match. I was going to call ahead anyway but this saved me the trouble. If it's bad enough for someone to start a post about where to park there, I don't need the added aggravation.

I used to LIVE in Brooklyn BTW, my dad worked in Mahattan and we've been there a dozen times since, I know what a pain it is there.

I park right in front nearly every single time I go there, which is often.

I parked at my hotel in Jersey and took the subway. Driving into NYC is nuts, unless you've got a HUGE bankroll and don't mind the tire wear driving in circles looking for an open lot or an open metered space. I took my whole family up to NYC for site seeing, talked my Greek wife into going to Astoria to buy pastries, Greek food...but I had a hidden agenda. We worked our way around, all the time headed toward Steinway. Then, I acted all surprised and said, we gotta go in, who knows when I'll ever be up this way, what a co-ink-da-dink, etc. And there was Earl, holding court on his 10 footer. My wife didn't buy it for a minute...:embarrassed2:

After shooting the breeze with Earl for a while, we finally pulled ourselves out and my wife said, "Wow...he's kind of a jerk, huh? He really thinks a lot of himself." I replied maybe, but he has every right to. ;)

I gotta tell you, I've seen a lot of pool over the years, but his CB control on a 10 footer is absolute wizardry. Watching it in video is nothing compared to seeing it in 3 dimensions, while standing over the table.

I doubt there's any garage in Astoria, Queens that would charge $20-$40. That's Manhattan prices.
I thank everyone for the input. I only went there once, for practice, and I parked at a meter. BTW, if in Queens, BQE Billiards is about a mile away from Steinway, a 1rst class place, and it has indoor parking. I was in an APA league there a while back.

everyone of your posts is a joke of some sort, do you ever contribute anything of substance or are you a one line king??

you mean like you're doing now? yes?

New York City has subways, buses, and ferries running 24/7. Unlike other parts of the country, you don't need a car to get around in New York city. Amsterdam, and Society don't have parking lots, and do very well. Last weekend the Predator Tour was at Cue Bar in Bayside. They're further out in Queens than Steinway, with less transportation options and Cue Bar doesn't have it own lot either. That doesn't stop people from playing there last week, and for today's Tri-State tournament.

If I'm going to Steinway, then I start looking for parking on the residential side streets. There is plenty of parking nearby, otherwise it would affect all nearby businesses, such as UA Kaufman theaters and not just Steinway.
