which break tip?

I know this has probably been gone over before but please bear with me..

I'm going to have to hold off on a dedicated break cue for now but in the mean time i'm going to re-tip a viper cue that i have for breaking.

I'm looking @ the samsara break tip and the super pro tip..

What do you guys recommend and why?

Anybody have any experience with either of these or possibly tried both?

I have a Samsara break tip on my break cue and i love it. And my friends who use my break say the same thing. It hits great and above all it gives you so much control with the cue ball. I highly recommend it and will use it in the future with all my break cues.
 
I use a White Diamond break tip, it breaks a ton but still holds chalk like a regular leather tip & with some leagues banning the use of phenolic tips this is ideal as it is a canvas based tip.

I agree! I have the Samsara break tip on my Fury JB-series jump/break, and I couldn't be happier. My Fury JB-series jump/break started out life with the stock carbon-weave graphite ferrule-tip combo, but I kept mushrooming the p!ss out of it (I've a decent high-20s break). After the fifth time of my cue repairman shaving off the mushroomed portion and reshaping it, I gave up on carbon-weave graphite, and had him cut/shave it off down to the shaft's tenon, and replace it with a true phenolic one-piece. That was great until the BCAPL ban on phenolics came out, so my cue repairman then "decapitated" the top 3/16-inch of the tip (just the rounded area), shave it flat, and glue a Samsara onto that flat area. All I can say is WOW! Even better than phenolic, because now I can apply english to my breaks and jumps (yes, you can do "jump draws" with the Samsara).

I heartily recommend the Samsara break tip with no reservations!

The guy that i talked to said he used a super pro and recommended them but i've been leaning towards the samsara the whole time..

I liked the white diamonds as well ,they broke and jumped great and installed them on a couple peoples cues without a problem. But this last batch I got I installed 2 and both have popped off after a couple days use. I been useing Loctite gel. and never had a problem with anything else. I been sanding ferrule, and tip and glue and pressing for a couple seconds. I didnt know if the guy was jamming the tip into the table or what but for the same guy to pop 2 off the same cue Im ready to tell him to take it somewhere else..lol...
 
Let me sum up the last 60 break tip threads. 60% Samsara, 30% White Diamond, 10% other.

I would choose Samsara or WD, but I was offered Madman super hard or something as an alternate... It has good reviews. Probably be fine.

I break with an Emerald now and it is fine.
 
i think samsara break tip is the best.go get it from KOINNKID(troy).i put it on my cheap break cue and it breaks better than those expensive ones that i had.
 
I have a White Diamond on one shaft and a Samsara on the other. The Samsara holds chalk better, they give quite similar results but I would lean toward the Samsara.
 
well i dropped off my cue shaft @ the cue makers and he's gunna change the ferule to a phenolic and then put a samsara tip on.. Should be done by the weekend.. Cant wait..

From what I've been able to gather, anything that isn't leather is Not allowed in bca leagues. If the white diamonds are canvas based, I think that makes them illegal for play. Could be wrong though.

On the tip topic, I have the super pro. It's hard enough to jump, and really smash the cue on breaks. I don't have any experience with the samsara tip, but it sounds like you have made your choice anyway.

Yeah its already in the works but if for some reason i dont like the samsara then i'll try the super pro..

I use Samsara Tips on my Break Shaft (x2) and love them. One did pop off after about 9 months of solid play and popped off after a very bad 10 ball break I done. I am trying a Mild Dud (Pressed Triangle that has been soaked in milked and then baked) this evening. If its no good, I'll replace with a Samsara...but with 9 Ball in the UK using Cut-Break (as seen in Mosconi Cup also), I have a feeling this tip will be pretty good :D
 
I plan on buying some of the Samsaras. Up to now I've been installing Super Pros and haven't had a complaint. They are cheap and do the trick.

I've recently installed two Talisman break tips to replace the phenolic tip on the Predator BK cues. The guys love em. So much more control re leather vs phenolic.

Tommy, HangEmHigh was selling some pressed Triangles and he likely has lots.
I do like the regular Triangle for playing myself and will press a few for a test in the near future. Thats an inexpensive option for yourself too.

I've had the very same problems with my White Diamonds. I can't get them to stay on the cue no matter which glue I use (and I've tried 3 or 4 different kinds) nor how much "roughing up" I've done to the ferrule/tip. I gave up on them. Got several of them sitting in my tip repair box.

FTR, the cue I was trying to install them on was also a Viper. Maybe it's the material Viper uses for their line of cues that doesn't allow the glue to adhere properly to the ferrule. I don't know. I hope the Samsara works out for you. When I get to the point to where I need another break tip, I'm going to give them a try (unless of course there's a better tip out there by then).
