Which bus for Russ ?????????

Terry,

You may have noticed I've basically been staying out of the NPR forum, and the reason is, I have come to realize that I have a rather acerbic way of expressing my opinions, and it would be better to just stay away from controversial threads..

It all comes down to the same threads, repeated over and over anyways..

Some hate Bush, some love Bush, some don't care.

Some hate organized religion, some love organized religion, some just don't care.

Some hate drugs, most love drugs :D, some don't care.

I came to see that I was pissing a lot of people off, and I wasn't ever going to change anyone's opinion, so why bother?

Besides, bashing DCP is SO much more fun than discussing logical flaws in Christian dogma.. :D :D :D

Russ

Reminds me of Puddy on Seinfeld's famed response to Elaine. "Hey, you're the one going to hell, not me." That line cracks me up.

Wow !! I never in a million years that this thread would start a debate over religious beliefs!!

I happened to come across a pic of a "short bus" and thought that it would be fun to post some pics.

Sorry Russ.........

I was a member of a Corvette forum and spent alot of time in the "Off Topic" forum. Until I realized that it was a waste of time with all the arguing going on about religion and politics. Everyone has their own beliefs and I have no problem with that. I just choose not to participate.

Russ......

This isn't arguing

Believe it or not, I don't think this is arguing at all. Why is it when we each have a different opinion, and we all do, that its called arguing? When we all shoot pool, don't you sometimes talk while you're playing? Is every conversation one in which everyone agrees and says "I think exactly like that."? No. We can differ in our thoughts and opinions and have nice little talks like this and then we move on. Why is it considered arguing? If I for example, like Fong Pang Chao's style of play and someone else likes Corey Deuel's style of play, and we each tell why we believe what we believe about those two styles, is THAT arguing as well? What if we each expound on why we each think our favorite pool game is better than your favorite pool game. Is THAT arguing? Then how come, anytime religion or politics are discussed, its called "arguing"? I never thought Russ was arguing with me and I certainly wasn't arguing with him. This is just forum talk. Some threads do get sidetracked every once in a while. I personally enjoy hearing what others think on different subjects. Why is this one subject such a scary thing for some people to talk about? You guys can talk about a lot of stuff and act like the men we are, but when the subject of religion comes up, it's now "arguing". Come on, aren't we all pals here or what? This is a forum for talking with words. That' what this was. My goodness.:)

You tell him Terry.........You Earl lover you!:p

Just one more thing...

I want to tidy this up before we move on and get back to the things of pooldom....

To Russ - I hope you can get back to the states soon. If you're ever thru my area, send me a PM ahead of time. We'll play some pool (you pick the game) and afterwards, dinner's on me. And I won't defend God if you don't attack HIM:) We can talk about pool or our family or "how's your steak?":)

To poolhustler - We've given each other good reps in the past and I'm sorry if I bushwhacked your thread about..about buses  I hope you're not mad at me and we can still be buds.

To Hu - When I read your response, I laughed out loud! When I logged off and was driving to work, I kept laughing in the car when I thought about your idea! Maybe NASA could put up some sponsorship $

To crawfish - I've never seen one episode of Seinfeld, so I don't know who or what that was.

To jimmyleggs - I never ate a devilfish. Don't know what that is either. I do prefer devilfood chocolate over angelfood cake if that matters:D And jimmy, again, I was so wrong about you before. I'm glad we can kid back and forth now about the virtues (or not) of the Pearl. I like our banter very much now, and would really miss it if you ever decided to become a "Earl Lover"

You guys are my pals here. I figured my response to Russ would stir the railbirds. I was right on that.:)

I agree 100%. I think of AZB as a big happy inteligent family and to prove my point, I suggest that we as a whole, vote as one giant block to elect the next President of the U.S. That way, we can feel that WE were intrumental in ruling the WORLD.
Doug
( now, please go ahead and tell me which candidate we are voting into this position )

Btw, I'm witholding my vote until I'm certain that we all agree....... :)

Least I ever be rembered for having hijacked a bus (thread), out of the aforementioned buses, I would select "The Hummer Bus" because at least it does have tinted windows and nobody could see me if I had to take a ride in it....

Thing is, that some people on the board actually hate my guts just because we have different political/religious/drug related beliefs, and they will probably be keeping their Short Bus Russ-related sigs for the next two years..

I don't get it, myself.. A lot of pros have very different concepts of what a shortstop is, and I explained that to me, a shortstop is not necessarily a pro level player, and Buddy Hall feels the same way, but some are still mean spirited about it, and won't let it go.

Thanks for the laugh Russ ... you use "Short Bus Russ" in your own sig (beside the line where you "quote" yourself, except that you edited the quote just to make your sig, um, better (?) ), and below your name. Also, I'm not so sure the handle was suggested as a description of your play (a shortstop), but good on ya for twisting it that way

Please know the whole story before you post, thanks..

This all started when Walt Frazier (yeah.. THAT Walt Frazier) started woofing at me.. I woofed back, by saying, (insert the wll known signature line that half the board has now)..

Then, some dude I last played back in Washington state almost 12 years ago says he thinks I am a hack, and then Smorg jumps on board with that, and adds "C player" as a description of me in one of his posts, and everyone just ran with it.

Smorg already came back on and said that calling me a C player is an exaggeration, but you know how everyone is when they don't like someone, so they ignored it..

Now, to tell you the truth, I don't really mind all that much that people post that sig.. It actually makes me sort of proud to have so many people concerned with my game that they want to make that big a deal out of me woofing back at a guy who has shown himself to be full of all sorts of BS (Walt Frazier)...

I do mind when people derail any thread I post in to take a stab at me, just looking for a rise. Sometimes, I would like to participate in a thread without being attacked, and possibly derailing the thread.

You're absolutely right about differing opinions being okay, but there's a difference between discussing something tangible like Chao/Deuel's style of play, and religion (faith, not logic). People don't usually tell you that if you prefer Chao's style of play over Deuel's that you will burn in eternal damnation. If they did, it might lead to some arguments too :D

You're right, there is a difference. But where did I say anything like "you'll burn in hell"? There is so much more to having a faith in a loving God who is willing to forgive, and bless and help us. Why key in on only what happens to those who live a life of evil and sin? What about all the good that the Lord does?

By the way, do you think Hitler, baby killers and other evil people should be in Heaven?

Russ, you should get rid of your own sig with it's self-aggrandizing claim, imo ... it may help with your problem. But you won't, you like all the attention.

I had a great laugh when you woofed back at Walt, it was priceless imo, one woof artist woofing at another.

Terry,
I'm doing my best to keep this from turning into a discussion about religion.

I'm glad you see the difference between comparing someone's stroke, with a debate between believers and non-believers of faith.

As for the rest of your post, you say "Why key in only what happens to those who live a life of evil and sin?". We're talking about religion being a sensitive spot that leads to a lot of arguments. That happens to be one of the major points of argument between believers and non-believers. Whether or not it is for YOU, it certainly is in general. And it's certainly not a subject that you can just sweep under the rug when having those discussions.

shinobi,

I understand your point and agree with you that although it may not bother me to talk about this, it may upset others. I really don't have anything else to say here except what I've already posted.

Thanks for the spirit in which you posted your comments. I respect that a lot.

Terry,

Maybe "argue" was the wrong choice of words, discussion would work just fine.

I have no problems / issues with anyone here except for that DCP character!!

Have a good one all, I'm off to shoot some pool.......:D
