I've just started playing again in the last month and bought a players. Now I want a cue that I know is a good cue and will be confident in it. I'm not sure what maker but the player I have now is 19oz. I like birdseye, ebony, curly maple, stained birdseye/curly and i'm sure a few others.... I just want a good cue which I won't HAVE to buy another in the next few years and I KNOW it plays well. I've been looking at Olivier...Joss...Jack Madden... I don't really know what plays good and what doesn't so i'm asking for you guys advice and what you have for sale THANKS in advance(sorry if i repeated myself it's late):help:

There is a guy in my area that has a Dale Perry which he bought 4 yrs ago and it cost $2800 and people say to stay away from Dale Perry.. ya know I don't have any idea.. I JUST WANT A GOOD PLAYING CUE..

EDIT:
I found a Jack Madden that I like...comes with 2 shafts, JP's, birdseye forearm and ebony/bolo butt for 650. also a local cue maker has a complete birdseye with leather wrap, one shaft no JP's for 550. what do you guys think?

Google josey cues. Can't go wrong - makes a fabulous cue!

$400-$700, huh?

For that price range, you can get a nice Schon or if you prefer custom I'd recommend Dominiak, Jim Reeves, or a low end Steve Klein.

Do you want custom such that you are willing to wait months to a year + for one? That will help people here tailor their recommendations.

Is a Jacoby considered to be a production or custom cue?

Are they made in the U.S.?

Madden's are good cues.

My personal choices in that price range would be a MasonH, though it would be a little bit more. Onley's can be found in that price range, and you get a bunch of work for that price. JoeyinCali would be somewhere in that range as well I think. Makes a great cue.

Not to mention www.dzcues.com sneaky's, Chad Carter, and schon and joss cues.

Got this one he is looking at too...

Any good words on Stacey for him would be appreciated...
