Which cuemakers have built 1/2 joint stainless steel joints???

I was wondering which cue makers over the past 30 years or so have built cues with the 1/2 joint stainless steel joint and 5/16-14 SS pin?? Just curious how many have done them.

I have but usually I use a radial or 3/8-10 flat face. I don't like piloted joints unless I'm building a traditional, full steel joint to look like an old Joss, Szamboti, Balabushka or such type cue.

I know Leon Sly is/was using a 1/2" SS collar on some of his cues.

I used to do this years ago on some cues. Dickie was doing it on most of his cues when we split up. Benson cues was the first I can remember using it.

I am pretty sure the first known builder of half steel joints is Mike Johnson of Jensen cues. He's in Louisiana and has been building cues since the 60's. The half steel joint has always been his trademark. When I first started building cues I used the half splice from Mikes influence. I had talked to him in the early 80's and liked his cues styling. When Sherm and myself started building cues that was my favorite joint and when Sherm and myself split up the half steel was my predominate style until around 1999 or 2000. It is still my favorite joint but steel joints have fallen out of favor except for old style traditional cues and then they are usually a full steel or ivory and piloted.

I built a few stainless jointed cues in the late 80's and early 90s that had a 1/2" long stainless joint. But they had the 5/16-18 thread back then and the pin was also part of the joint. Benson used 3/8-10 in the one of his that I took in on trade once. The first short metal collar cues that I know of were actually aluminum instead of stainless and they were Dufferines.
