Which cuemakers work would be worth the most if...

Lane Simons of Simons Cue would get my top vote. www.simonscues.com He is the best in the SouthEast in custom cues.

This was actually another thread I was going to do.. given the same parts, have cuemakers make a stick for judging. A pannel of experts will hit with them and pick the "best hit" "best construction" "best design". Do this maybe every few years to ease the strain of the other jobs they have.

Someone was trying to explain this before.. this is not so much what you would want to own, but what the cuemaker can charge for just his "name" and reputation so to speak. A plain cue, no cost added for the fancy stuff. How about if the cuemakers just twiddled out a toothpick, which toothpick can be priced the highest and still sell?
 
As much as I like Schick cues, I remember a never-used PJ bocote Schick cue on here last year, which to my knowledge never sold at a price of $1875 delivered. Keep in mind, this cue had a leather wrap, ivory ferrules, and an ivory joint.

I bet if that same cue was instead marked as being made by either Barry Szamboti or Dennis Searing, it would have sold quickly at that identical price.

True, but you wouldn't have any old Schick's lying around, would you?:)
I was going to buy one at DCC 2 years ago and found out they were out of my price range.

Yes, I sure do. Doesn't hurt to live a few hours drive from him:) I remember back in the early-mid 90's going to his shop and buying a sneaky pete with wrap for around $350. It just didn't fit right with me, so I sold it a week later for about the same price to a local player.

I see now that same style of cue fetching around $800.
 
there is only 1 answer SEARING. If you got to pick one cue to sell & keep the money you got from the sale the answer is SEARING. hunter,southwest & all the others except maybe szam [very close] will not bring the same money period.

Dennis Searing and Barry Szamboti could go either way.

If I had to pick one it would be either Dennis or Barry. Then again if I had to pick one it would be either Barry or Dennis.

I just wondered that nobody mentioned Eric Crisp. I know he is a young gun, but his cues raise amazing prices. Especially the plain ones.
 
Hands down would have to be TAD, I have been offered 2k for my plain janes, still not selling though
