Which is the best set of pool balls?

Hi, guys i need your help i just bought abrand new Brunswick 9 ft tournament edtion metro table and had 860 felt put on it. I'm in the market for new set of pool balls. Which are the best the Super Amarith pro set or the Brunswick Centennial ball set? or what what would you guys recommend?
 
I have heard many on here state that they are the same balls, and the only difference is the markings.

Others have claimed that there is some minor differences between them.

I always took the first answer (that they're the same) as the right one.

I happen to like the markings on the centennials better, but my table (Olhausen) came with Super Aramith pro's.
 
I actually think that the Centennial balls seem to be a little more substantial in the way they feel, I am not sure if that even makes sense. I have read that the resin elasticity is different between sets.
 
If you decide to go with the centennials, bamacues had some for sale, new, for $175 or so. Great deal.

If those are gone, the best deal I've seen is billiard warehouse for $209.
 
I like both sets. The centenials have a great classic look to them and play great and will last forever.

The aramith have a more modern look to them. I am also pretty certain that they are just a bit heavier ( and a touch bigger), and will roll longer. So if you were to switch to a set of aramiths on the same table, the table will feel like it is playing faster.

I worked in a pool room where we had both sets. We had 9 ft GC's.

The more preferred set was the aramith pro with the measles ball. We used them for all of our tournamnets, and kept them on the money tables.

I got quite used to them and like them very much, but I do not feel it is a huge adjustment to switch between them or anything.

Unless you are gearing up to go on tour, just pick the one you like better. Either would be a great choice for good play.

Just a word of warning to the wise. The IPT balls, the numbers and symbols are SLIGHTLY raised on the balls' surface. If you run your thumb over it, you can tell. I dunno if this affects plays much, if at all, just an observation with the old sets from when the IPT came by me.
 
I had Centennials years ago and ruined them somehow. Did I put them in the dishwasher? Something like that - trying to clean them the quick and easy way, and I paid for it.

When I replaced them I bought Super Aramith Pro. I like them just as much as the Centennials, and I really like the spotted cue ball.

Centennials are more expensive, but that doesn't mean they're better. You're paying for the Brunswick name. I think the Brunswick company has an inflated idea of what the Brunswick name is worth these days. You can't go wrong with either one. They play the same, the design is different.

Whichever you buy, also buy some Aramith ball polish - it's good stuff. My dishwasher days are over.
 
I don't think there are any significant differences. I would go with whichever set looks better to you. I personally prefer the Super Aramith Pros with measle cue ball.
 
I purchase a set of Centennials a few years ago and asked the local pool room manager at Pickle's to clean my set with their ball cleaner. To make a long story short, the top opened up because he didn't latch it properly and the METAL sleeves came down HARD on the balls and ruined most of them.

I really liked their looks and how they played. I used to carry them to the pool hall for practice with my long time practice buddy MikeS.

If I ever buy another set I would buy the Centennials and a measel ball just because I also like the measel ball.

For the record, does anyone believe that the measel ball is harder to draw but easier to follow? (as well as easier to cling to the object ball)

For the record - Aramith makes the Super Pros which are their top shelf set.
They also make the Centennials for Brunswick according to their specs.
Both are top quality.

The best ball set (like anything else billiards related) is a matter of opinion.

I like the Bicentennials for the way they look,BUT i bought the super Aramith's because they were easier on my eyes to see...There has been alot written about both in old threads here.....IF you play alot of tournys i would say buy what you play with most at the pool hall........Myself i mostly play at my home when i am here about 4 months out of the year...Good luck to you..:smile: .

Check eBay, you can get brand new Centennial balls for less than $140 shipped I doubt you can find them cheaper. I also think that Centennials are the best balls, but remeber they are made by Aramith for Brunswick.

Sounds more like a sale pitch to me for his set he must get rid of for $75 since they are so good.



BTW, Aramith all the way. Don't spend the extra money on Brunswicks.

I have both. I cant tell the difference and both are several years old with no signs of wear yet. But then, I'm just a.
