Which leather thinner option?

I'm wondering which would be the better option between the Tandy Leather splitter for $160 delivered
or the MICROLUX? DRUM THICKNESS SANDER for about $225 or so delivered.

The Microlux sands wood up to 1/2 inch thick and 5 inches wide, so it can handle leather wraps.
Seems to me the drum sander could do inlays, veneers, and thin leather. That seems to justify the extra cost.
I've got a cue repair setup, so neither of these items would get heavy use.

Anybody have any experience with either machine? Any suggestions or opinions?

Thanks guys!

PS- Thanks Lee Malakoff for the link to the Microlux.

I'd be pleasantly shocked if either machine was able re-split leather with any precision for pool cue wraps!

as Martin sadi,i doubt the Tnady will split the leather thin enough.to buy one that will split to 1/2mm range you are going to spend at least $500 from what i have seen.

i have a drum sander in the shop, but i don't think i would want to run leather or skins through it.

Skipping the Tandy

Sounds like I'll skip the Tandy. The Microlux isn't looking too promising so far, either. There's just a bolt to adjust the thickness- no gauges of any type.
Any thoughts?

Performax(SP?) belt thickness sander,
or so I've been told.

I tried this and was not too happy with the results either. Maybe if you discovered just the right belt it might sand okay. But the leather wants to wrap around the belt and cause lots of problems. I have hardly used the sander for much else so it was pretty much a waste of $900 for me unless I find it useful for something else. I am happy gluing my inlay material to paper backed plexiglass so it is not needed for sanding inlays.
