Which New Shaft

I have searched and read all I can on shafts on here and realize that everyone has different opinions. Just thought you all could help out.
I am looking to get a Low Deflection shaft and cannot decide on which one I should get. I am looking at the Mcdermott I2, I3, OB Classic Pro, OB-2 and Predator Z2.
I will be able to practice at least 15 hours a week and want a shaft that is Low deflection. Any advice would be great.

I've tried em all and it boils down to what you like! For me, it's the Tiger X-Pro.. YMMV

MoJoe said it all. I shoot with a McDermott I-3 because I like the 11.75mm tip and the small white ferrule. Played with the OB-2 for about 2 weeks but didn't like the ferrule - very distracting to me. As far as deflection, I didn't notice any particular difference between the two. Try as many as you can before you buy. But with a name like MoJoe, you can't be wrong.

I forgot to mention the lifetime warranty with the McDermott I-series shafts. New tip, clean, and reseal at no charge. Just pay the $21 shipping and handling fee. I have the I-2 and the I-3 and sent them both in at the same time. I only paid the $21 shipping and that covered both shafts. They'll also replace the shaft if it ever warps is my understanding. These were stong selling points to me.

i have experience with the z2 and 314-2 and i'm a big fan of both of them, but i prefer the 314-2 over the z because of the taper.

You'll get a lot of different "opinions"

You'll get a lot of different "opinions", but your is the only one that matters. For some people like me that doesn't know a lot of people with different shafts, I had to buy and sell shafts so I get to try them out, loosing some $$$ in the process but I look at it like I rented the shafts. But, at least I was able to hit with them and see what's best for me. I tried a 314-2, Z and luckily, I think the 3rd one is a charm! An OB Classic. I tried it on a 5/16-14 SS collar and that's all I have on my predator cue now! I am selling that 5/16-14 and getting a back-up for my predator. It really depends on how you feel about it when your shooting with it, regardless of what anybody or whatever ad says.

Yeah that is a good selling point. The I-2 or I-3 are what I have been swaying towards.
ArizonaPete I see you are in the same area as I am. I am in Palm Springs. Where do you shoot at around here? I have not been able to find a hall or shop or anything.

Jacoby Edge Hybrid plays great for a LD shaft

Standard pro taper with 12.75 or euro taper with 11.75. They will also do custom tapers and ringwork.

What Shaft did Willie Mosconi to run 526 BALLS in a Row in Straight Pool in 1954, that is the SHAFT I Would Choose. BET YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE!

As I have not played with either the I2 or I3, I really can't comment on them. I have played with the others.

First off.. do you like a stiffer hitting shaft or a softer hitting shaft? The Classic Pro and Predator Z2 will have a stiffer feeling hit. I personally think the Classic Pro has a more stiffer feeling hit than the Z2, and gives better feed back through the cue, but this is only my opinion.

The OB2 has a softer feeling hit. Some people like that. If I get my choice, I take the stiffer feeling hit. I've played with the OB2, and it does a great job.

I have a P2 that I use a OB Classic on, and it hits better than the 314 that came with it.

Hope this is the kind of feedback you were looking for.

I'm with you Duane....

Dave (or Brandon) will make it in ANY size and taper you want. Ordered mine after shooting with Dave's prototype at the DCC. GREAT people, GREAT product!!!! I recommend Jacoby every chance I get.
